Nice delicate but interesting gold stud earrings for the delicate of ear

I managed to relieve my second holes on both ears (lockdown fun) and after 3 months of wearing titanium studs I want to live on to something more interesting but my ears are really sensitive and gold plate just doesn’t agree with me. So any nice little interesting studs in solid gold? I don’t like big earrings and currently have a little lightning bolt for example. Budget is flexible depending how lucky I like them!

There some really lovely grown-up piercing brands like Marisa Tash and Otiumberg. The Alkemistry has some lovely fine jewellery as well.

Alkimistry - www.thealkemistry.com/collections/earrings

Maria Tash - jewellerycurated.com/product/diamond-trinity-threaded-stud-earring/

These ones from Astley Clarke are interesting without being "big". They are 14ct solid yellow gold.

Most of these are studs. Not sure if big meant huggie earrings which are also not too big.

Liberty (London) always have a great selection. Try Annoushka if you have more money! Great designs.

Feedingthebirds1 · 24/01/2021 19:50

I know they're not exactly a 'cool' brand, but a lot of my small studs are from Hinds Jewellers

PastramiNoRye · 24/01/2021 20:00

Laura Bond's stuff is lovely!

FreeButtonBee · 24/01/2021 20:59

Thanks so much! I am very keen to hit Liberty/Maria tash once lockdown lifts! So good to know they are quality. I am checking everything else out right now!

I have sensitive ears and wear gold hoops from missoma. They have some lovely designs and my ears have never reacted badly to that brand. I react very quickly to many other brands

FreeButtonBee · 24/01/2021 21:32

Yes I have probably the same Missoma hoops but their other stuff is a hit chunky. I want some teeny tiny stuff. I will look again though

Quite a few well know brands do very little in gold. They are plated. You need to look carefully at the descriptions. Various terms are used to describe gold plated. Vermeille being one.

J&Co jewellery is gorge for this x

Some of its silver but they have sweet designs.

Bloodhoundgang · 25/01/2021 01:24

@SimplyRadishing they are beautiful. Just bought a pair.
Apologies OP, cannot help with the gold studs. Any gold earrings I have are just from local jewellers or auctions.

grapefruitish · 25/01/2021 04:40

My daughter has bought a couple of pairs from this Etsy shop. They come from Spain so take a couple of weeks. They are really good, solid, well made quality. I was impressed. Usually we'd buy from Dinny Hall (link also below) but they are much more expensive.

Grin happy to help.

This thread does show the problem with “gold”. Anthapologie do not have any real gold earrings on their web site. They are all plate which isn’t what the OP needs.

Also if you buy anything from Spain (why would you?) there is VAT added so everything is more expensive post Brexit. Gold is no cheaper in Spain and plenty of people here do gold studs where there’s no import charge.

FreeButtonBee · 25/01/2021 10:44

Yes gold plate or vermeille is okay in my first piercings but the new ones just can’t handle anything other than solid gold (or titanium which was brill for healing but quite dull and unexciting)

Will have another loo at these suggestions- thanks!

Solace Jewellery are good for delicate ears.

I think the problem is entirely with my reading comprehension! Apologies OP!
PresentingPercy · 25/01/2021 16:50

I have the same problem op. Ears start itching with anything that’s not gold or platinum. Ok for an evening but that’s it! John Lewis might have a selection and you can always look at local craft goldsmiths. Just google and I’m sure you will find some near you. The Jewellers Bench in Great Missenden is a good example but there are many more.

GrimDamnFanjo · 25/01/2021 18:13

Try searching through Etsy - I've been wearing a lot of silver recently but there are some gold designers too in the uk.

FreeButtonBee · 11/02/2021 21:05

Thanks so much for all the ideas. I have just bought some edge of ember constellation earrings. Not cheap but hoping they will be interesting and not sore!

I know you’ve just bought some but have a look at Junipurr. Very beautiful and dainty. I don’t think they have a UK website, they are mostly available in UK piercing shops. This place currently has them on sale.
