I’m optimistically buying summer dresses even though we had snow today
I suit turquoise and blue - quite like these and a few others on same site - seem ok price wise
Does anyone know about Adini sizing - I’m a 12-14 at present hoping to be back to a 10-12 by summer

😂 Yes a bit young.

Where is it from out of interest?

Verite1 · 24/01/2021 00:01

I’m afraid I’m not keen on either and agree with comments that they are both pretty frumpy.

FamilyOfAliens · 24/01/2021 00:07

@Bluntness100

This is the last summer dress I bought. I wear it a longer than the model, so about two inches above the knee,. I’ll be wearing it again this summer with flip flops.
That’s just a long t shirt, right?

If you paid more than £20 for it, you were robbed, Bluntness.

OhCaptain · 24/01/2021 00:15

@Bluntness100 you’re not showing what women in your age group wear, you’re showing what you wear.

OP’s taste is obviously different.

Personally I think 50s is a bit older than the target demographic for that dress but each to her own. Including OP.

Grumpasaurus · 24/01/2021 01:23

Frumpy

Sorry op

DietrichandDiMaggio · 24/01/2021 01:34

@OhCaptain

I'm shocked at how many people think mid 50s is too young for this style. I would have said this was exactly appropriate for mid 50s!
How old are you?

I'm 53 and would never wear those dresses.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 24/01/2021 02:49

@Bluntness100 clearly we are meant to wear crimplene and twinsets once we are over 50. If I was 2 stone lighter I'd wear that dress you posted too.

Where is this dress from?
Monty27 · 24/01/2021 03:20

Shoot me if I'm ever seen wearing the first one in particular. The second one at a push with my own take it shoes wise and stuff.
I'm older than you OP

StarlightLady · 24/01/2021 03:49

Dresses are very much my wardrobe go to, summer and winter.

I’m early 40s. At a pinch l would go fot the second one, but l would prefer something with a more pronounced waist and a v neck. I also think that both patterns are rather busy for my taste.

Bluntness100 · 24/01/2021 08:58

It’s a hush dress.

As said, I don’t wear it short like the model. It’s totally age appropriate during the summer

And yes we are supposed to cover our knees and wear crimpoline. 😂

I also wear leather look leggings, skinny and straight jeans, biker boots, white trainers, denim shorts round the house snd garden in summer, sleeveless tops, cigarette pants, leather jackets, as do my friends.

Are we supposed to hit our fifties and embrace the frump? I think I’ll pass thank you. But others can crack on. 😂

WouldLoveToGoOnHoliday · 24/01/2021 09:22

OP - have you looked at the Jolie Moi website. They have pretty good sales too. I’m not keen on all their patterns, but their dresses are nicely fitted.

Happymum12345 · 24/01/2021 09:28

I prefer the second dress, op.

Oldraver · 24/01/2021 09:38

If the Adini is a style you like, and for hot weather they are a godsend, then Asda do several each year, search under linen mix. I think Next and M+S do similar linen shift dresses

BusterGonad · 24/01/2021 09:38

I think everyone is bring a bit mean, the op asked which one, not to be totally slated by everyone.
I don't like The Hush Tara dress, I think it had its day years ago.

JaceLancs · 24/01/2021 09:39

Thank you for all your comments
Really interesting re the too old/too young
I dress for my shape first, then colours that suit me, I don’t think of age and often wear similar things to my DD
It also depends on when I’m intending to wear - I try and keep work and casual wear separate, then pre Covid would buy for holidays/special occasions
I try to buy natural fabrics,
Those who think they both look frumpy may even be right - I won’t know properly until I try them on! What footwear you choose can also make a huge difference to the look of something

OP posts:
Palavah · 24/01/2021 09:42

The 2nd one is nicer. The 1st is v frumpy. But, OP, why the rush now if you're on a weight loss trajectory? Your body shape will change and you may find different styles suit /don't suit you.

(my mum would consider those dresses too frumpy. She's over 70).

JaceLancs · 24/01/2021 09:49

Apart from the shorts - I wear all of the above - plus classic wool coats, plain cashmere and lots of sweater dresses

I’m also known for pointy toe shoes and boots in unusual colours
I love designer brands like a classic rockstud

@ Palavah
There isn’t a rush! I was just having a rush of online shopping - I’ve not bought much recently as prefer real shops
Yesterday was snowing and apart from quick dash to collect a prescription didn’t go out so cheered myself up with bit of retail therapy
I also ordered some new underwear from bravissimo, a dress and jumper from uniqlo
and am watching quite a few things on eBay including a gorgeous Vivienne Westwood dress

OP posts:
Bluntness100 · 24/01/2021 09:58

Then it’s kinda out with your normal style op? They are quite hyacinth bouquet, I mean don’t get me wrong they are nice, but they will be ageing.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 24/01/2021 10:00

@JaceLancs it sounds as though you are very stylish so I'm even more surprised about the two dresses you linked to.

Hope you win the VW dress for a bargain price
