Comfy bra advice big back & big boobs 46DD or 48D

Any advice please for new bra? Tried several from Figleaves (as have a good discount code) but had to send them all back based on my measurements and comments they are recommending 46DD or 48D!!

I know I need to loose weight but current bra’s Rosa Faia 44E with an extender is far too tight and uncomfortable and every so often I keep getting circular feeling pains in one breast. In England in lockdown so can’t get measured also wondered about Big Bloomers or similar?

Thanks

PS also tall so shoulder straps digging in.

What dress size are you op?

bluebiro · 09/01/2021 17:26

Measure yourself according to this site - booborbust.com 0 and go from there. Straps digging in and discomfort suggests you need to go down in the back size and up in the cup size. (Band can feel too small if the cups are too small - they will "steal" fabric from the band.)

Randomrebel · 09/01/2021 17:30

Put lots of weight on due to ill health and worse in lockdown as CEV. I am 6ft tall and probably 22-24 at the minute.

I don’t like the facebook idea.

Going by your dress size you probably need a 42 or 44 back but a bigger cup size. Definitely do your boob or bust measurements.

MrsMoastyToasty · 09/01/2021 17:41

I reckon that you will be a 42 or 44 back as well (roughly its dress size + 20 = bra back size).
You then need to work out the cup size. Measure around the fullest part of your boobs. The difference between the two measurements is the cup size. A= 1in difference, B=2 inch difference etc.

Orf1abc · 09/01/2021 17:44

Get your measurements and give Bravissimo or Rigby and Peller a call. I don't think Bravissimo do larger backs, but Rigby and Peller do some, even if they don't have your size I'm sure either will be happy to advise.

If the 44E is too tight then it could be the back or the cup that's too small, so it might be that a 44F or G fits as opposed to needing a bigger back.

dementedpixie · 09/01/2021 17:46

I'm a 20/22 and only wear a 36 back size.
What do you measure under your bust? That's your back size
What do you measure over your bust? Take the back size figure away from the full bust figure to get the cup size.

1inch A, 2 inch B, 3 inch C, etc (D, DD, E, F, FF, G, GG, H, HH, J , etc)

bluebiro · 09/01/2021 17:47

You don't have to go on Facebook - it's a link to the website where you can just input your measurements.

Randomrebel · 09/01/2021 18:00

I find dress sizes vary so much and I usually wear stretchy jersey. I am a 43 1/2 underneath and 51 at the fullest part of the boob.

I might try I thought it was a facebook site sorry.

I got a few Molkes a few months ago, I know on MN women either love or hate them, I quite like mine, is very comfortable and supportive, wide shoulder straps and the sizing is quite broad so quite forgiving of exact measurements and any weight changes molke.co.uk/

dementedpixie · 09/01/2021 18:04

44F/FF roughly although boob or bust takes more measurements from you to make it more accurate.

Randomrebel · 10/01/2021 11:10

Just done BOB and got this yet I struggle to fasten some 44 bra’s due to the band size last time.

Put them on backwards and just fasten the band. If that fits ok you need a bigger cup, not band.

Bear in mind it will feel tight. If you have been wearing them too loose for years it might take getting used to.

dementedpixie · 10/01/2021 11:24

If the cup is too small then it makes the back feel tight as the breast tissue is stealing inches from the back size as there is no cup for it to fit into. If you measure 44ish under the bust then a 44 band bra should fit you.

A GG cup is much larger than the E cup and will free up band space and make it feel less tight.

dementedpixie · 10/01/2021 11:26

Or are you talking about the 42HH size it suggests?

Again its about breast tissue stealing inches from the back size. Cant hurt to try the different sizes.

Another vote for giving Rigby & Peller a ring

They transformed my experience with bras

This was me trying on a new 44F sorry about the scary fat photos.

To me the back was strangling me (very tight and uncomfortable) but yet the cup seemed too big.

OP posts:
dementedpixie · 10/01/2021 14:20

I think the cup issue might due to the style of the cup as it looks like a full cup style. If your breasts are fuller at the bottom then full cups don't work as well.

You could try a 46 to see if its more comfortable. Same cup volume would mean dropping a cup size if going up a back size e.g. 44F to 46E

DobbyTheHouseElk · 10/01/2021 14:21

The band does look too small, but the cup is too big. What happens if you tighten the straps a bit.

dementedpixie · 10/01/2021 14:26

I dont think the cup is too big as such, I think the bra style is not the best for your breast shape. I get on better with balconette or plunge as full cups leave me with excess fabric at the top

Randomrebel · 10/01/2021 14:36

Thanks all. I returned the bra but sent photos to Figleaves for advice.

Looked at Rigby and Peller I really can’t afford to order 3 or 4 bras to try at those prices. One in the sale in the size and Boob or bust is £76?

@Randomrebel I've just ordered 3 maternity bras from Figleaves. I found you definitely need to go up a back size but that might just be me Smile

Snackz · 11/01/2021 13:04

@Randomrebel Also, it's bloody frustrating nowhere is open (understandably though) to access bra fitting! Sad

As for the style-related stuff, any preferences? I came across this article medium.com/@raeesahmanack/small-style-mistakes-that-lead-to-big-problems-8ce11c599ebe They say underwear showing is a bad taste. What about fancy straps, I wonder
