Long hair knotting at nape of neck

I have longish hair..just below brastrap and it's in decent condition. I plait it before bed, and in the day it's either loose or in a french plait on work days as has to be tied up.But for some reason it gets knotty really easily at the nape of my neck.I guess there are some shorter hairs there from hair tie breakage but nothing drastic and the rest is fine. How can I stop it getting knotty?

Any kind of high cut collar or scarf wearing does this to mine. Could that be the case for you too?

I have the same problem and spray a bit of argan oil at the nape of my neck. It’s a very light oil so doesn’t make my hair greasy but it stops it knotting/matting.
