How to wear white trainers

This is probably a silly question Grin. I'm 49 and not very fashion-conscious, but am trying to develop a bit of style! I've never embraced the trainers-with-non-sporty clothes look, but a lot of people whose outfits I like seem to be wearing white (leather?) trainers with even relatively smart clothes.

Sooo I know I'm clueless and well behind the curve, but ... am I a bit old to carry this look off?And if not, can anyone recommend some (preferably fairly inexpensive), not blingy, not sporty, white trainers? I'd ask dd, but I can't face the withering look!

They look lovely on you. Are they supportive?

I have an Adidas pair (in red) but I find them really flat and not supportive.

They look great. Can we stop with “too old” please? I’m 67 and I’m not too old for anything!

Thank you! Yes, they feel very supportive actually, and I'm prone to plantar fasciitis, so supportive is important. The one thing I would say is that they are fairly narrow, which is fine for me as I have quite narrow feet, but they might not fit well on people who don't.

You are quite right. I guess I just normally don't tend to embrace the trends that I see more often on very young women, but usually because I don't like them or would find them unflattering figure-wise rather than thinking they are age-inappropriate per se. So I hesitated a bit before jumping on the white trainers bandwagon.

I've been trying on some interesting combos while sorting out my wardrobe though - not quite sure if I can carry off the black voluminous harem pants (which I impulse-bought because they looked sooo cool on the exotic, skinny and androgynous Forgotten Tribes model) with DMs though... Grin Exotic, skinny and androgynous I am definitely not!
