When do you do your 'grooming'? Do you have a beauty rota?

My nails need doing, my hair needs colouring, my feet also need doing, my eyelashes need tinting, and so do my eyebrows (which also need waxing). I also need a bikini wax but I will wait for salons to reopen for that.

I'd love 2021 to be the year I have all of the above under control but I always seem to go for ages before I actually get round to tending to the above. I colour my hair during the week before I shower (half an hour and I can get other stuff done in the meantime) but I can usually only do my nails at the weekend (I need daylight and during the week I work) and that's when there's always something going on (atm chores and DIY and seeing my OH - we don't live together). Same with eyelashes and eyebrows.

If you are usually well groomed, what's your secret? Do you have a fixed day in the week when you do the above? Do you get up early? I'd love some ideas that will allow me to fit the above in my schedule (I work FT from home and spend most of my time in video conference calls). Help please Grin

I chose February 2020 to be the month I finally got my shit together - I got my eyebrows, nails and highlights done and optimistically booked myself in for hair 10 weeks later, eyebrows 3 months later and nails two weeks later.

So that all went to shit!!

Anyway, one day, post-Covid, I will endeavour to achieve that schedule again. As far as the rest of your bits and bobs go, I haven't quite achieved them yet!

When the mirror gives me panic attacks I tackle everything and not a minute before.

My husband and I give each other half a day "off" from the kids every weekend. He takes Saturday afternoon and I take Sunday, or vice versa Grin So I usually do it then (amongst other things...I don't spend the whole four hours on grooming!)

In normal times, I get my hair cut every five weeks, eye brows waxed every three. I usually have three appointments booked in in advance.

I do my own nails, tint lashes and brows, and colour my hair myself. I tend to have a bath on a weekend afternoon then do pedicure/nails. Lashes and brows I usually do on a weekend morning - only takes ten minutes - and hair I normally whack on the stuff just after finishing work (currently at home) then have a shower/put pjs on straight after.

Other than brows I shave, and I don’t do tan or anything.

I have a couple of methods:

Little and often - I may buff my feet one day, remove old nail varnish the next, repaint them later that day.

Cheat - I use bath oils to keep my body moisturised. Or the sanctuary wet skin moisturiser when you use after you have washed and towel try as normal.

Multi task - I will slap on a face mask, paint my nails and slap on some foot cream. I'll pop on MN for 10 mins. By the time the face mask is ready to come off, my nails are dry and the foot cream has absorbed.

Keep your product handy - I have nail oil and hand cream is my bag and I use them while commuting on the train. I also keep hand cream in my car and will squirt some in my hand, to use after I've locked my car.

I have my nails, & eyebrows done every 3 weeks I always have my appointments made in advance.
Hair is done every week coloured every 6 weeks.
Lockdown has fucked all that up.

I'm a fan of a Sunday night bath and tidy up.
And in normal times regular haircuts and eyebrow appointments.

ChaToilLeam · 04/01/2021 22:43

I’ve let my hair go grey and last had it cut in November. Other than that, I do all my own grooming. Sunday evening is my maintenance time: soak in the bath, mani and pedi, face mask, conditioning treatment for hair, also bleach my tash if needed and tidy up brows. Usually just wear clear nail polish so chips don’t show.

BarryWhiteIsMyBrother · 05/01/2021 08:32

I might just put some clear polish on my nails while I wait for a slot to do a proper gel session. I really don't like my nails when they are bare.
