Velvet as daywear: yes or no?

I love velvet almost to the point of fetishism and need a new skirt.

There's a shorter version of this in Kew at the moment, in black which is gorgeous, but I can't afford a 'party only' skirt, besides having no parties to go to - I need an everyday skirt to go with boots. Would I look hideously overdressed/slightly mental?

As long as its good quality/good cut, otherwise you look like you're going down the Goth route.
I speak from experience.

Forgot about dry cleaning. Worth it though I think.

Those toast skirts are gorgeous, bit steep for me though - think the Kew one is about £50. (and I'd have to wear it A LOT for that!)

It's decided - am going to buy it and Look Fabulous

I often wash things that say dry clean only and they're normally fine.
