Hairdresser disaster - pink and orange hair!!

So I went to the hairdresser last Saturday. Asked for my normal half head of blonde highlights. My normal hairdresser wasn't available so had someone new. He asked if I would like to try one of their new toning masks. Apparently tones the hair but doesn't damage it. I said yes.

We discussed colour, he recommended a copper toner to match my natural colour (darkish ginger).

Long story short my hair is now pink at the roots, orange at the ends. Patchy and stripy. Just awful!!!

I've spoke to the hairdressers and I'm going back tomorrow, they advised I try and wash the toner out. I've washed it several times but no change.

Are they going to be able to fix it? My hair is in ok condition but I think it would be ruined with another round of bleach. Should I ask them not to bleach it again, should I just keep trying to wash it out? Help!!!!

Sorry to hear that. I;d take plenty of photos of your current hair colour, along with how it normally turns out.No advice really, but hope you can get it sorted.

My hairdresser dyed my hair teal once, without asking me. With a lot of vigorous washing with anti dandruff shampoo and some added bicarb in one of the washes, I managed to get it to a less obvious silvery blue over a weekend.

My hairdresser thinks I'm some kind of insta-goddess rather than a teacher. He dyed it purple in the summer when I expressly told him I had a work even the next day.

@racheycat my HT would have pitched a fit...I don't think I'd have been too pleased either!

Looking back at pictures I've taken I feel like maybe it is fading a bit now. But it almost looks worse now it's faded! I'm so nervous about going back this afternoon!!

How did you get on @ningaj? I hope they’ve done something to fix it, it’s not ok to leave it patchy.

I was there for hours! They did 2 bleach cleanses, a green toner and then a semi permanent dye. Plus gave me a shed load of products to look after my hair. It's better but very very light (compared to what I'm used to), and the roots are very blonde.

They said once it's settled a bit I can go back for some free extra highlights to try and blend it in a bit more. I think my hair has had enough though.

I was impressed with the effort they went to, and at least I don't have pink hair anymore!!!!

My HT is actually quite elderly, and I think a combination of his sight not being very sensitive to colour, and the deeply held belief that I wouldn't be so insane as to go to work with blue hair, meant that he couldn't actually see it. He didn't mention it once. My other colleagues were all OMG BLUE HAIR, even after I'd managed to wash it to the silver side of blue, and obviously the students were delighted, but HT seemed fortunately oblivious.

Glad it got resolved @ningaj
