Several of us have had our stuff held up or slow refunds from Uniqlo, so am wondering: which are the best online retailers in the same price range as Uniqlo and with better customer service? I am building up a new winter wardrobe for the whole family, so need quite a lot of stuff, and I do not want to go to the shops right now. Talking thermals, jumpers, leggings, basic tshirts and so on.

How is M and S ? Think I will take my Heattech and jumper business to them instead. Are they good with refunds ( not of thermals obviously)

M&S are the pits, the quality is poor (expect to re-hem, re-stitch buttons etc.) however they are priced high for the quality. I really like Uniqlo and am just waiting patiently for my refund as they (along with most others) are really stretched right now.

Frequentflier · 10/12/2020 19:36

Thanks Twinkletwat. I do like Uniqlo but I just don't have the patience to deal with their customer service. I am also an odd size and it bugs me that exchange for a different size is so hard. Still looking for other reccos

One thing I would say about M and S is they offer really easy fuss free returns I've only done instore returns but I order and return quite a lot. I buy lots of work clothes from Marks and have no complaints.

Frequentflier · 11/12/2020 08:19

Socks, thank you. I am ok with returning in store; Uniqlo has cancelled that now too! I just don't want to spend hours in stores trying on things. I am not buying v expensive stuff; just basic loungewear.

Still not received my confirmations from Uniqlo after over a week; think my bargain cashmere sweater has gone AWOL.

Zalando are great. It's a shop window so lots of different brands /price points and the customer service is very good. They will collect returns from your door and refunds etc are processed really quickly.

Honeywort · 11/12/2020 09:20

Lands end are neither cheap nor “fashionable” but they do good quality basics (and some thermals) and their customer service is exemplary.

Their cashmere is lovely and their kids clothes wash and wear really well. I don’t buy a huge amount from them, but I have been pleased with everything I have got.

Same here. Which is why I rarely buy online.

TBH I think all online retailers are struggling right now. I wiuld have said Uniqlo were good, and they were pre covid.

Honeywort · 11/12/2020 09:28

Just to say - Lands End currently have a half price sale on everything, so are better priced than usual!

AuntieMarys · 11/12/2020 09:32

Mint Velvet have been the best service for me.... items sent out next day ( free delivery), wrapped in tissue and refunds within 3 days. Plus communication all the way.
I've been waiting since 25th for a Sweaty Betty order...it hasn't even reached Hermes yet.
Disappointing about Uniqlo. I've always had great service in the past. Wish they'd open more stores oop north

Frequentflier · 11/12/2020 17:29

Thank you all so much. I am not very fashionable, so Lands End will be just fine. Maybe I am being too harsh on Uniqlo give Xmas and app Brexit and such....

I often used to browse the Landsend clothes in Debenhams. The quality seemed really good. Just one caveat - the trousers aren't very long if you are tall. I'm 5'7" and their trousers were never long enough for me.

nitgel · 11/12/2020 17:35

I have some heatech type tops from m and s and think they're ok. I prefer uniqlo but Mark's do longer length which uniqlo dont. Had mine couple of years and they're in good nick.

Tehmina23 · 11/12/2020 17:49

I've found River Island to be good online.
I ordered a jumper & got 15% off with Blue Light Card plus free standard delivery which was quite prompt.
I find their clothes last & the quality is good.
But... you have to shop carefully as some items are a bit 'out there'.

Next are good with free delivery to stores & good with returns.
They sell a lot of the brands that I like such as Lipsy. Again Lipsy & certain other brands have discount for NHS.

I've never had an issue with M&S online either, and have returned stuff easily.
I like their Heatgen thermal tops which can be worn as actual tops. They wash well too.

New Look is another store where I've shopped online recently & had a good experience. Again it's about 25% off for NHS. They sell good cheap basics as well as fashion items.

I've also shopped online for clothes at Debenhams & Topshop recently but sadly as we all know they're closing!!

S0CKS · 12/12/2020 20:13

I definitely agree that all online retailers are struggling, the network is absolutely rammed normally and its obviously even worse this year not to mention shops who are struggling financially. I usually much prefer to shop online but right now I'm either not buying it or going to the shop for it.

liquoriceallsortfamily · 12/12/2020 20:43

I'd highly recommend George at Asda. I'd personally click and collect though as it's quicker and in a lot of stores you can even collect by car xx

DazzlePaintedBattlePants · 12/12/2020 21:39

Actually I have never had any problems with M&S. Their delivery is slow but we have a simply food down the road and next day click and collect is very good. Their merino wool jumpers are just as good as Uniqlo and I suspect from the same supplier, as are their Heatgen/Heattech stuff. I also rate their jeans, and I like that their beauty range online is really extensive - I can buy REN and Stila and pick it up next day with my Percy pigs. Their fragrances are also very good.

Otherwise John Lewis is great, as you would expect.

onyourway · 13/12/2020 08:08

Weekday has been brilliant and I've been really pleased with the quality. Heavy old fashioned t shirts and good shapes.

climeybarlie · 13/12/2020 08:36

Boden, Boden, Boden.

M&S are slow on delivery (have paid for nominated delivery twice in two weeks and they have totally failed - and it's not RM, it's defintely M&S who have failed to send stuff out quick enough) but fast on returns.

Darklane · 13/12/2020 09:40

Woolovers for jumpers, cardigans, accessories etc.
Never had to return as they give exact measurements of the actual garment & quality always been good.
Quick delivery.

I wish more clothes sellers would do this. I find this very helpful as our family all have very long arms.
