Garnier hairdye for blonde hair

Hi, I normally go to a hairdresser to have my blonde hair coloured but am currently on maternity leave and have noticed Holly Willoughby demonstrating on Instagram how she dyes her own hair using Garnier. I know it's an ad but wondered if anyone blonde successfully dyes their own hair as I'd love to be able to have some money and time and do it myself and more frequently. Thanks

Box dyes don't lift much ..depends on your natural colour.

Definitely all depends on your natural hair colour. Even if it’s the same as holly’s, it isn’t guaranteed that you would get the same result.

not able to reply in depth yesterday....box dyes only lift by one shade really..you run the risk of orange tones etc using them on your hair colour....hairdressers will use bleach and then tone to achieve correct shade and level of lift before toning...proceed with caution....go for a shade several lighter than your own hair and it may be ok....neighbour is a colourist and used to correct my box dye disasters....!!

I have used the holly one. My natural colour is light brown/dark blonde. It didn’t lift hardly at all and my hair always lifts easily are the hairdressers. I also got left with quite a warm colour.

Next I tried the ice blonde. Same brand. This one lifts more and with less warmth. I find it a decent inbetween measure.

I am not going to risk at home bleach so this seems to be the best without bleach. I don’t see how hollys dark hair ends up without the very orange warmth from her hair colour but perhaps she puts it on 3 times and we don’t see the other times!

I may try the ice blonde one on twice next time see if that’s better.
