Do I want a gorgeous blue 1950's style coat

which I rather liked .. think it was a 50's coat actually rather than a 1950's style IYSWIM

but my worry was that I am already 1950s suburban housewife so would it be a step too far?

so would it be stylish and unique, or twatish do we think?

it was peacock blue with a mad flowery pattern on it ... true suburbia IYKWIM

and seemed to look lovely over jeans

but I don't need it

puppydavies · 19/10/2007 16:50

i think is in real life shop. either that or she doens't want one if us nicking it first

twinsetandpearls · 19/10/2007 17:01

I have a bright pink 1950s style coat and I love it.

It is a Betty Jackson one from the designer at debenhams range, there is a rather useless picture of it here.

It is just so me if it were a person I would marry it and devote myself to its service.

MaryAnnSingletomb · 19/10/2007 17:02

yes, I'd like that !

twinsetandpearls · 19/10/2007 17:04

Where is the coat from it sounds lovely.

MaryAnnSingletomb · 19/10/2007 17:04

also think Yasmin LeBon( modelling it) is fab looking - have always admired her looks

hana quality seems good but to be fair I haven't actually worn it outside yet.....

TwigorTreat · 19/10/2007 17:34

It is from a bijou boutique that has stopped doing over-priced new clothes and started selling 2nd hand clothes

so its actually recycling really and so a good thing

(I suppose its like Oxfam but with style and all the money going to a private person instead of good causes)

and its only £25 too

(it would probably be £4 in Oxfam )

it was a smorgasbord of quality stuff from the ages .. and supposedly changes stock every week .. think its my new favourite place

TwigorTreat · 19/10/2007 17:35

having just spent £125 on a winter coat though I'm not sure I can justify a frippery like this

motherinferior · 19/10/2007 17:37

Twig.

GET THE COAT.

You will look fab in it, in a curvaceously norky way.

I personally only possess a black furry washable number from the M&S kids' department, though

boolepew · 19/10/2007 17:38

Frippery or essential? You know it's the latter.

boolepew · 19/10/2007 17:40

A woman can never have too many coats.

Or boots.

Or shoes.

Or bags.
Just buy the bloody thing! Don't forget to post a picture. I'm and I've not seen it yet.
