tapered dark trousers for 5' 2' ,70 year old to wear to funeral

As above . Smart casual more than suit trousers .

I'm saying tapered as I feel that cut suits me best ,but as people will know from my Chukka shoe thread ,my sense of what looks good is not well developed .

Should I concentrate on petite range or would "ankle grazers" deal with the need for short length .

Not too spendy .....upper limit 35 pounds .

TBH no-one is going to notice what you are wearing at a funeral, especially at this time of year when you will be wearing a coat. Do you have anything smart already that you can wear?

In answer to the trouser question M and S have a huge range of trousers.

Sorry for your loss Flowers

Marks and Spencer Mia slim possibly? Exactly £35.00.
With a flat or small heeled black shoe? Possibly not the Chukka boot 😂What did you buy in the end? And did it work ?

peridito · 14/11/2020 09:01

Thank you Gin ,I don't have anything smart ,my clothes are very casual .And the coat I plan to wear is slim and a bit shorter than 3/4 length .I think the trousers will be noticed .

Countmeout aargh ,good /essential point !!! How can I be so stupid ,of course shoes and trousers must go together .I think I will have to wear these ankle boots ,which I suppose I could have worn with my tunic /dress .

But I now have these heavier duty ones .

The only other shoes I have are an old pair of echo ones ,similar to this but all suede and a bit battered .

Hi, look at Dorothy Perkins online. My mum is a stylish 71 & gets clothes from there, so do I. They sell nice ankle grazer black trousers or Petite range black trousers for under £35.

Also try Next Petite range.

Terralee · 14/11/2020 13:30

You can get decent cheapish black shoes & boots from Dorothy Perkins & from New Look online. Also M&S.
Dorothy Perkins come up pretty wide though if you have smaller feet.

Countmeout · 14/11/2020 17:10

@peridito what are your feet like? Are they the same size as your neighbour?
I keep a sort of funeral outfit in my wardrobe ( probably same stage of life as you) I bought a cheapish black coat , I have tapered black trousers or a jersey skirt, a black and white blouse, all a bit nondescript and dateless. Thankfully haven’t needed it this year so far. I wear a pair of loafers with www.marksandspencer.com/leather-block-heel-square-toe-loafers/p/clp60455904?color=BLACK
The shoes obviously are worn at other times. I was caught out once and ended up at a work funeral dressed a bit like Michelle out of ‘allo’allo . Funerals happen very quickly here so I thought it best to be prepared again.

peridito · 14/11/2020 18:18

I think our feet are fairly similar - but I will check!

Yes ,I was talking to another 70 year old friend and we agreed that a standby outfit needs to be invested in .

Terralee thanks for your suggestions - will take a look .

It is a bit tricky not being able to go to shops to feel the material ,try things on .

@peridito Sainsburys is pretty good for footwear. I have a pair of Chelsea boots that I bought from them about 4 years ago, and they are still going strong.

peridito · 14/11/2020 18:41

Actually gin I was thinking of looking in Sainsbury's ( great minds ! ) .

Especially as clothes and shoes seem to be essential items that are still for sale in Sainsburys .

Ooh. That's good to know. I really rate Sainsburys for clothes.
