Fly London boots

GoneScone · 13/11/2020 21:21

I've had a shitty week and I'm wanting to treat myself to some Fly London wedge boots. Only issue is I'm in a half size, which Fly don't seem to do. Does anybody have any? If so, can you tell me if they measure small or large please? Thanks 😊

I sized up to a 6 when I had mine. I will give a word of warning that they are great boots and very comfortable mine only lasted through one whole winter and half of the next before starting to leak through the soles. I would've expected better from boots that cost over £100. I still love them but can only wear in dry weather now which in winter isn't too often.

Merename · 13/11/2020 21:37

I have flat ones which were fairly true to size, maybe slightly large. Mine are on their second winter and watertight but do look quite shabby - probably I didn’t care for them like I could have though!

greensnail · 13/11/2020 21:38

I love my fly boots, they're still going strong after several years. I would go up half a size.

Seriouslymole · 13/11/2020 21:40

I would second the fact that they don’t last long for what are relatively expensive boots. Mine also leak through the soles which is disappointing.

Runningdownthathill · 13/11/2020 21:45

I’ve had mine several years and wear them virtually every day in the winter. They’re still going strong.

quickkimchi · 13/11/2020 21:45

I have a pair of wedge Chelsea boots. I'm usually a 7.5-8 and bought an 8, which fit fine when I bought them but I think they stretched quite a lot and are now a bit flappy. If it helps my feet are a bit on the narrow side so maybe I could have sized down.

GoneScone · 13/11/2020 22:00

Thanks all! Those that say they are poor quality, any recommendations for alternatives? I love the style, but would also expect a decent quality for the price

They look lovely and I was tempted, but there were many reviews about poor quality and not lasting long so I was put off. Instead I bought Sorel boots for snow and heavy rain, and waterproof Doc Martens for everyday.

GoneScone · 13/11/2020 22:04

See I bought the sorely puffy boots last winter and they fell apart in weeks. However when I was holidaying in a cold climate I bought some sorel snow boots and they were fab... Guess you never bloody know haha 😄

Weird, I have fly boots that have been used and abused and are still going strong 5 years on

BikeRunSki · 14/11/2020 06:58

My Fly boots are 4 or 5 years old. Still fine, but I polish them with wax polish, treat them with Nikwax and don’t wear the every day.

They are slightly on the large side, which is great for me, because I’m an 8.5, and often styles stop at 8 which limits my shoe shopping considerably!

Seriouslymole · 14/11/2020 08:34

I would recommend Doc Martens - they do some really nice boots that don’t look like typical DMs.

ThousandsAreSailing · 14/11/2020 08:35

Mine leaked from day 1. When I returned I was told they are fashion boots🙄
So not to actually be worn then?

Schonerlebnis · 14/11/2020 09:08

Josef seibel has some wedge fly look alikes. Can't link but called lina 05.

Oldraver · 14/11/2020 09:17

I have the Suli boots and would say they are big for size. I have tried on Mes and couldn't get them on in my size, so I think it depends on style

I've also found they are not very good in wet weather which is a bit rubbish fir boots. But yes to good polish and spray, I just wouldn't use them in snow or torrential rain

They make up for everything in their comfort

Finnyhaddock · 14/11/2020 10:13

I was just wondering how thick the soles are?
Are they heavy? Most DMs are too heavy for me as I have major foot problems?
Is there any arch support?
TIA

Cocolapew · 14/11/2020 10:16

I find them slightly big
I have loads, they are 10 times more comfortable than DMs and they've lasted really well, and I wear them a lot.
I did have one pair that let the rain in after a few years.
I buy mine from Amazon.

xyzandabc · 14/11/2020 10:21

I love mine, I think they are Mol 2 boots. Wore them most winter days for 8 years before the soles/heels wore out. Tried to find a suitable alternative to replace them but ended up buying the same again as they still make exactly the same boot.

Even brand new out the box they felt exactly the same as my 8 yr old ones. Didn't have to wear them in at all. They are much lighter and way softer than DMs, far more comfy.

I'd say they are fairly true to size, possibly a bit on the roomy side.

Lalalatte · 14/11/2020 10:25

Mine are around 4 to 5 years old, had a lot of wear and are still going strong, no leakage.

As coco has said very comfortable, more so than docs.

Letseatgrandma · 14/11/2020 10:27

I have Mes, Mol, Yust and Mes2. I’m a 4.5 and wear a 4 in some and a 5 in others-the Mes2 in particular seem to come up big.

They are obscenely comfortable-as comfy as well-worn in DMs, and I find they last really well. They do let water in, so DH treats them every year with some stuff in a tin that looks like Vaseline which seems to waterproof them.

GoneScone · 14/11/2020 10:54

Thanks all!

Looking at these currently £75 from Daniel too www.danielfootwear.com/fly-suli-p105005/s552863?cid=GBP&gclid=Cj0KCQiAnb79BRDgARIsAOVbhRqOAuTHF6nH7_tpMdGUI-YKJVrdv_iBAm4fThG52pPl015p4CHfyKAaAtXsEALw_wcB

I'm usually a 7.5 - hopefully a 7 will be ok Smile

I have some wedge ones. They are true to size imo, which I appreciate isn't very helpful!

Mine have lasted years. I don't wear them every day though, tbf.

MissRainbowBrite · 14/11/2020 15:28

I have just treated myself to some Panama Jack boots.
These www.panamajackshop.com/uk/en/woman/footwear/boots/singapur-b23
They were more expensive than Fly but they get fantastic reviews and they feel wonderful. I originally had some Merrell Captiva boots which were fab and are still going strong but just don't look great anymore, still waterproof though.

Girlintheframe · 14/11/2020 17:23

Wow so many leaky boots!
I've got two pairs and never had any issues with either. One pair are actually over 8 years old and still look great.
I've found fly a really good fit as I've got wide feet. I often have to size up due to width but fly fitted perfectly

Serafinaaa · 14/11/2020 17:35

I'm on my second pair. The first lasted 3 years.
They are slightly big. I'm a 5.5 and my first pair were a 6 and felt too roomy. This pair are a 5 and fit perfectly. The tall ones are narrow though. They are only for slim calves. They won't fit athletic or larger calves.
