There's 3 posters on this thread who've all used the phrase 'without the poker straight look of straighteners' 🤔

Thats actually what I like about it. It smooths my hair straightens out some kinks but looks much more natural than when I use my straighteners
Harmarsuperstar · 17/11/2020 02:11

Yes, I get what you mean by it, I just think its odd that so many posters said it in exactly the same way

ForeverRedSkinhead · 17/11/2020 05:23

@Harmarsuperstar I'd not read pps when I posted. Obviously you can't edit so I left it.

I genuinely do have a dafni brush , which I really like. I'm not going to post before and after pics of my wavy , slightly frizzy (before) hair for privacy reasons. I have no control over whether you believe me or not, so that's that.

Joeyandpacey · 17/11/2020 09:34

What’s odd about it? It’s a well known phrase and the style is definitely falling out of fashion compared to 10-20 years ago.

Coffeepot72 · 17/11/2020 10:19

Its just a turn of phrase???

Harmarsuperstar · 17/11/2020 10:27

Fair enough. It was the middle of the night and it seemed odd. In the cold light of day maybe I just look a bit paranoid 🤷‍♀️😂

ProudAuntie76 · 17/11/2020 10:37

I nearly added “not quite the poker straight look of straighteners” to my post Blush.

I agree that it’s such a commonly used phrase, especially here on S&B, that it didn’t even register that it would be thought of as strange or that someone would assume it was spam.

Coffeepot72 · 17/11/2020 10:52

I've never found poker straight hair very flattering on me - my best days were the scrunch dry period (maybe we should have a thread about diffusers??!?) :)

iwanttolookbetter · 17/11/2020 15:20

Is scrunch dry an option when you don't have curly hair Coffeepot?

Coffeepot72 · 17/11/2020 16:05

I used to have a perm (!) and layers back in my scrunch days, I'm not sure how scrunching would work on straight hair?

iwanttolookbetter · 17/11/2020 16:12

No idea either Coffeepot - just wondering if it created volume or something! I currently have a perm but not sure if I'll repeat it or go back to straight hair and resume my quest for a straight but voluminous result!

Have you tried blow drying your (straight) hair upside down? Velcro rollers (the big ones)?
iwanttolookbetter · 17/11/2020 17:48

Yes, I always dry it upside down and this gets a better result than anything else I've tried (apart from perming!). Never worked out how to get a result from velcro rollers but I've maybe been using them wrong!

honeyis11 · 26/02/2024 10:37

I love mine and not used the straighteners since buying the glide brush.
I have thick wavy hair and like the way it leaves it. I hate poker straight hair anyway
