4 year old short/baby hair at hair line

4 months ago my 4 year old cut herself a fringe. Since she started school I have be braiding it out of her face. Not particularly tight as I am not that good. But recently I noticed lots of new short hairs along the hairline and parting. Is this due to my regular braiding? Have I wrecked her hair. Or is it normal at this age to get new hair. So frustrating as I had just grown her front out. She can’t take a fringe due to her very strong cow lick and side part. It just hangs in her face. How do I let the hair rest whilst keeping it off her face at school. She won’t wear a headband and clips just seem to slide out of the Hair.

How long is her hair? Look at eeasy toddler hairstyles on YouTube - she has loads of ideas for fine baby type hair and focuses on keeping the front portion up and out of their faces.

He hair is right down her back. She cut a fringe to eyebrow length. So I have been braiding it into into French braid pigtails. The fringe is longer now but all these new short bits have appeared. Just feels like I am never going to get it all back to one length. Which wouldn’t be as big an issue if she didn’t have the cowlick.

Hello, I'm not an expert but my dd had exactly this, although I didn't do any braiding. My hairdresser explained it was normal and just more hair growing in. Maybe keep braids loose if concerned?
My dd had a Bob at that age which was super easy to maintain.

Katy that makes me feel a bit better. If it’s just what happens I can live with it!

DSD did the same thing. I bought a few of those wide stretchy headbands for her to wear, that held the short bits back (and hid the evidence Grin) and I could still do a ponytail or braid with the longer hair

My 4 year old has suddenly developed a fringe but it definitely looks like new baby hair! Not that she needs anymore hair, she has so much already (secretly wishing I would have new hair growth instead haha)
