Skin care routine for rosacea

Hi

I'd really like some advice on what sort of skin care routine I should follow to help with rosacea - because I'm clueless!

I have the pimple-y type of rosacea mainly around my mouth and chin, which can be quite sensitive and get quite red and angry looking. My GP (dermatology specialist) prescribed Epiduo to help with the pimples after a course of antibiotics - which is helping he pimples but making my skin very red and dry! Other than that, skin is combination/oily and I'm in my mid thirties.

I currently use cetaphil face wash and moisturiser, and body shop cleansing balm to remove make up. Should I use he epiduo before moisturiser? Or can anyone recommend anything less harsh?

What's a good facial SPF for those with oily/rosacea prone skin?

I've also heard that anti ageing products can make rosacea worse - has any one found anything that works for them?

I'' a complete novice at all this so any recommendations are very welcome!

@TuesdaysChildisfullofgrace I’ve also ordered pending review - fingers crossed we get good results!

I see some people get long term results from soolantra- a word of caution, I still need to use mine regularly, 4 years later. I never had spots or pustules, just redness and flushing. If I skip the soolantra for 2 or 3 nights, I’ll know about it. That doesn’t seem to be the way for those who have the spots though.

MustardMitt · 08/11/2020 19:45

@sammylady37 Soolantra did absolutely nothing for me. Dermatologist concludes I have 'atypical acne rosacea' which means basically nothing helps really. Luckily it's not too bad, and not sore or anything.

LondonJax · 08/11/2020 20:26

The reason why a lot of GPs don't prescribe it is because it is extremely expensive to the NHS in comparison to things like Rozex so they'll often start on the cheaper items. Which makes sense as there's no need to spend £38 if a £20 gel works as effectively.

sammylady
Yes I am a Health Professional, but not a doctor.

@Nothingiswrong your results from Soolantra are incredible. I hadn't heard of this product before. Thanks for sharing your photos.

Iflyaway · 08/11/2020 21:53

Following.

Iflyaway · 08/11/2020 21:57

Oh yes.

Those photos look amazing!

This soolantra (?) stuff, is it purely plant-based? Or does it have hormones/chemicals in it? I don't have spots really but have Lichen Planus and am "very red" and blotchy.

NothingIsWrong · 08/11/2020 22:33

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ivermectin

This is the active ingredient, I think it's only for rosacea though, which is caused by tiny mites in the skin.

Livedandlearned · 09/11/2020 19:22

I used Soolantra which is amazing and UpCircle moisturiser and serum. I've also used Avene Thermale products. I found I needed products suited to super sensitive skin.

TuesdaysChildisfullofgrace · 11/11/2020 07:13

My soolantra arrived yesterday, I'll report back in a few weeks

Thank you all for your help Smile

I have soolantra on nhs prescription - it was a complete game changer and I am 95% cured

JingleCatJingle · 11/11/2020 07:52

@LondonJax Soolantra does not contain bigger mites that eat the dust mites. It contains Invermectin which is basically an insect killer.

I used Soolantra and it improved my rosacea though still left with some redness. Fabulous stuff.

NothingIsWrong · 11/11/2020 08:49

@TuesdaysChildisfullofgrace

Make sure you take before and after photos!

GorgonzolaSouffle · 11/11/2020 08:55

I use the Kalmes rosacea cleanser from the Skin Shop and soolantra.

Game changer

Water shouldn’t be used on the face.
