Clothes feel boring and tired - what can I add to bring it up to date?

I haven’t bought new clothes for a while and everything in my wardrobe feels boring and dull. I have the basics (jeans, grey/navy jumpers, white t shirts) and want to add a few pieces to make it more interesting.
I’d like a daytime dress (maybe maxi), a coat, a couple of new tops and some trousers. Also I need new jeans. Any recommendations?

There are lots of tops around with bigger round frilly collars or different style sleeves that could add interest either under jumpers or on their own - I wear with heat tech tops under my blouses during the day for warmth.

There are lots of cardigans around this year too, how about a cardigan for a change. I have a nice wool one from Arket and one from Other Stories.

A midi dress to wear with boots or depending upon your height there are some nice jumper dresses around.

Pinterest may have some ideas and inspiration to help.

Changing your jeans shape to bring that up to date is going to be quick and effective.

What about some good earrings for Zooms and maybe a headband if they suit you?

Thank you for the suggestions. I like cardigans but find them a bit problematic - what do you wear underneath?
Have you seen any nice midi dresses? I have good boots.
Earrings are a good idea and an easy thing to change. And yes I agree I need better jeans!
I don’t think it helps that I’m not feeling brilliant about myself at the moment and have a terrible habit of saving things for “best”, which means I always feel dowdy in the same badly fitting jeans and baggy sweatshirt.

I think H&M and Monki have nice midi dresses at the moment, or Hush/Toast depending upon your budget.

I wear blouses under cardigans or a plain nice quality white t-shirt. I do always try to choose natural fabrics as they make me feel better.

Agree that modernising your jean style could help.

I haven’t really kept stuff for best this year, I just think I may as well wear it and feel nice with all that’s going on. I’ve also bought quite a bit of new makeup during lockdown, would a lipgloss or new lipstick make you feel brighter, or a haircut when we can? I always do my hair and put in make up so that I feel I look ok for work video calls everyday.
