Body odour/armpit help!

Yes, I have NC Grin
So I wash (daily) with dettol soap/hibiscrub under my arms and a scrubby thing so they're completely clean and no trace of deo. I don't smell getting out the shower
I use my usual antiperspirant (dove for men as I prefer the smell) but by mid afternoon I smell. Nothing changed, I drink loads of water, am not doing sweaty work but it's that kind of stress sweat smell if that makes sense?
I'm torn between trying something mega strong or going either no deo or a natural one whilst I'm WFH...
any ideas?

I don’t find sprays work as well as solid sticks or roll ons. I swear by Mitchum, I used to use the solid stick but there wasn’t much product and it didn’t last long. I have switched to the roll on and it lasts ages so I am using less plastic. Works a treat.

Purpler5 · 25/10/2020 20:27

I also recommend Mitchum - I use the men’s one but have used the women’s one too and both are good.

Regularsizedrudy · 25/10/2020 20:27

Use a solid stick deo, not a spray, they are proven to work better. Also don’t scrub your pits just wash them gently.

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 25/10/2020 20:30

Have you tried shield soap?

JemimaTiggywinkle · 25/10/2020 20:35

This happened to me recently and I realised that my new deodorant was not an antiperspirant... so it just makes your underarms smell nice briefly, but doesn’t stop you sweating.

TableDesk · 25/10/2020 20:45

Dricolor but make sure your armpits are completely dry before use. One application usually last 14 - 21 days, with no break through of sweat or smell with use of usual deodorant (mitchum 48hrs)

Longdistance · 25/10/2020 20:51

Are you sure it’s not your bras? If so soak in vodka and do the same with the armpits of your clothes. Then pop on a normal wash. Worked brilliantly with a few of my tops and bras.

TokenGinger · 25/10/2020 21:31

I agree about the body getting used to deodorant and needing a change. This used to happen to me until I switched to roll on. Now I never get a hint of body odour.

Thisismylife1 · 25/10/2020 22:52

I’d never trust a dove one to work - need much more heavy duty like the Sure or Mitchum long lasting. I think dove is ok for those very few women who don’t sweat!

chocolatespiders · 25/10/2020 22:58

Have you tried Sure maximum protection? It has changed my life after mitchum stopped working.

Geppili · 25/10/2020 23:06

Mitchum

Barmbraic · 25/10/2020 23:08

I have discovered in the last few years that caffeine gives me that awful smelling stress sweat. I've given up regular tea and coffee and now find even decaf tea with whatever tiny trace is in it is causing it again. I can live without coffee but I bloody love tea.

Aquamarine1029 · 25/10/2020 23:10

You might want to look into Botox.

borntobequiet · 26/10/2020 05:45

Dettol and Hibiscrub sound over the top, you’re removing all the bacteria from your skin and creating a very unnatural underarm environment. Try a good quality unscented soap (Simple or any supermarket own brand, they all have them) and Mitchum gel.

Riv12345 · 26/10/2020 06:02

I do get what you mean

You need to wash with a nice soap
Instead of using dettol soap

If you want to use dettol soap use it after the soap.

Sounds odd but you need to have a proper clean with soap before you use an antibacterial soap like dettol

Then a good deodorant

armpit101 · 26/10/2020 07:17

@borntobequiet I have to use the dettol or hibiscrub to prevent abscesses unfortunately, the hibiscrub is prescription

Oh dear, poor you. Hope you find a solution OP.

Thesheerrelief · 26/10/2020 09:43

I know exactly what you mean. Nice and fresh coming out of the shower and within a few mins (before getting dressed so it's not clothes) a musty smell from my armpits! I actually found a solution that works for me by accident. I got a free bar of soap in my local health food shop and tried it one day because I ran out of shower gel. No more odd musty smell and my deodorant goes on better and lasts better.

Is that HS that you have? I'd repost, flagging the HS and asking for specific advice.

MrsMoastyToasty · 26/10/2020 10:14

It might be a fungal infection. I had one after this long hot summer. Got some cream from the chemist and the pong has gone.

armpit101 · 26/10/2020 10:37

@TheSpottedZebra it is but I've been free in my armpits for about 4 years now Grin I had surgery on it. Probably cursed myself now!
The smell is both armpits including the one I don't have HS in

OP posts:
Pinkypink · 26/10/2020 17:19

After a shower I cut a lemon in half squeeze it slightly to get the juice to the top and wipe it over my armpits, wait few seconds for it to dry - it's like magic.
I live in a ridiculously sweaty and humid part of the world and it works amazingly. I do still sweat but nowhere near as much and it doesn't smell.
I sometimes add deodorant on top but often do without

WrongKindOfFace · 26/10/2020 17:36

It could be perimenopause even at 35.

This Mitchum one is good. www.boots.com/mitchum-ultimate-unscented-gel-57g-10210506

TheWashingMachine · 26/10/2020 17:47

Mitchum deodorant disagrees with me, I now usex Sanex roll on and dry it with a cool hair drier and I feel much better and don't smell.
