What can I expect? I’ve never done anything like this before but I’m feeling a bit low and stuck in a rut so thought it might give me a bit of a boost. Has anyone else done it? Good experience? Worth it? Waste of time?

Great news, so pleased for you!

Glad you had a good time! Can we have a look at the boots? I need a new pair!

FlibbertyGiblets · 23/10/2020 17:55

Hurray! Super stuff, isn't it a great service?

idontknowaboutmortgages · 23/10/2020 18:46

Would love to see what you bought OPSmile

I have no idea how to do links on my phone?? I bought a pair of Whistles trousers ‘Wide Leg Ankle Grazer’. I find it virtually impossible to find trousers and I love them. May get them in different colours! The boots are Peter Kaiser - a brand I don’t know at all. They are nothing special really and I would have never picked them up but by the end of the appointment I just had to keep them! One top is Hush. A brand I have never bought from before and in a colour I would not have picked up, but again really like it. The other top is Mint Velvet its a blue snake print. Would never usually buy any sort of animal print but put it on and loved it. I will definitely do it again. Found it so helpful.

Can't wait till you post pics op

Defo worth doing. I went before returning to work after an extended period of time off. I took some items with me and she then bought stuff out for me to try on. In the end she was so helpful and chose something I had already bought and didn't try to sell me more. But really helped with my confidence and I could see what I should/shouldnt wear from an objective lens.

My mum did it, accompanied by me, and didn’t have a good experience at all. Her stylist had cancelled so they gave her an ordinary shop assistant (no offence, she just wasn’t a stylist) who just started offering her random polyester things pulled from a nearby rack.

I complained and we were squeezed in later in the day with two stylists who basically didn’t listen to my mum and really patronised her.

It was an important outing for us because my mum was terminally ill with cancer and needed an outfit for my brother’s wedding. She ended up finding something elsewhere, after our very poor JL experience. She made it to the wedding and died shortly afterwards.

Rainallnight · 23/10/2020 23:25

Oh and this was JL Oxford Street - not somewhere small and out of the way.

professionalnomad · 26/10/2020 06:57

I did it. Went for a wardrobe refresh and came away with two bags off stuff! I wanted to move away from always wearing black.i love bright colours but never knew how to wear them. She helped me find my new, more sophisticated but also more authentic style. I go twice a year now and that's it for clothes buying!

Hollyhead · 26/10/2020 07:00

I’ve done it, but I always go to the same stylist who I’ve had great experiences with.

ZiggysPFrow · 26/10/2020 07:03

Can anyone recommend a stylist for my future mother in law? She needs an outfit for our wedding.

Store can be anywhere as they are still doing the virtual sessions at the moment.

Thesheerrelief · 26/10/2020 11:57

Please show us pics OP! I'd love to know which trousers they are

GrumblyMumblyisnotJumbly · 26/10/2020 12:26

@Hmmwhattoexpect I'm so glad you went for it and enjoyed it! Like me I think you just felt self-conscious in advance.

Enjoy your new clothes (and wear them even if you are just in the house - why not!) 40 is fun!

Well done MIL for giving you a lovely pressie.

GrumblyMumblyisnotJumbly · 26/10/2020 12:39

@Hmmwhattoexpect sorry got confused with another thread where a MIL had given a personal shopping experience as a gift but still glad you love your clothes
