Any idea how you’d describe this fabric? Care label has been cut out.

I’ve just purchased this from the charity shop and would like to wash it. Care label has been cut out. Would it be described as a fleece do you think? Or a boiled wool maybe. I’m thinking turn it inside out and put it on a 30’degree wash. I tend not to dry clean much so I’m up for a stick it in an hope for the best 😬

Can you do a close up of what label there is (or do you recognise the logo)?

If we know where it’s from it’s easier to guess whether it was originally dry clean I think.

It's hard to tell from a photo but, if there's any chance it might be wool, I wouldn't wash it on 30 degrees.
How heavy is it?

AngusThermopyle · 16/10/2020 13:51

From the photos I'd guess at wool, so I wouldn't chance a 30° wash. Maybe dry clean or a delicates setting or just a hand rinse in some fabric softener.

GreyishDays · 16/10/2020 13:56

Should say, it’s an awesome coat. Does it actually need washing?

Bamaluz · 16/10/2020 14:09

If it's lined I wouldn't wash it in case one fabric shrinks or goes out of shape.

I would air it on the line for as long as possible instead.

2nd time lucky Hmm

Hi op, I have a near identical coat, it's polyester, here's my care label.

Ooooh that does look really similar!! So I think a hand wash cycle would work!

It really is a fabulous coat. It’s a kind of orangey yellow and weirdly exactly the mind of coat I had my eye on when I found it in the charity shop. It’s a size eight and I’m a 10/12 but because it’s an oversized design it fits great 👍

I don’t recognise the logo. I suspect it’s a cheap brand, probably primark or similar.

If in doubt, go for a cold short wash - wool cycle. Or you could steam iron on the reverse which will clean it and lift the pile. Well charity shopped!

GreyishDays · 16/10/2020 17:57

Less likely to be wool then, so more likely to stand up to a wash Smile

Misguided?

ApolloandDaphne · 16/10/2020 19:22

That fabric is boucle. Very cosy.

SWLondonTown · 16/10/2020 19:25

If it’s a cheap brand it won’t be wool! It’ll be polyester which should wash well

thedevilinablackdress · 16/10/2020 19:26

Google tells me that is indeed the Misguided label. Most likely polyester in that case.

justanotherneighinparadise · 16/10/2020 19:57

Ah great. Fantastic Grin

Thank you xx
