I’ve just purchased SUCH a flattering dress from my local charity shop

It’s from M&S and I’ve managed to find a link for it although it’s no longer available.

I’m 5ft 7 and a dress size 10-12. This just sits really nicely and the ruched sleeves are really flattering. I also like the length as I like to wear my knee high heeled boots with dresses that cover the top of them.

You're just gloating!

Looks lovely, and I see it has pockets, always a plus. I love a pocket.

QuestionableMouse · 13/10/2020 12:20

Wouldn't suit me but it's a gorgeous colour!

justanotherneighinparadise · 13/10/2020 12:21

Ha ha if I find something flattering I tend to see if I can buy it elsewhere in a few different colour ways, hence me doing an internet search.

The charity shop I like isn’t particularly cheap but it does have some lovely clothes. So I suppose a partial gloat lol

I was looking through the Boden catalogue the other day and they seem to be using the elasticated smocking in quite a few items. I really like the look (although boden prices are too expensive for me).

I have the long sleeve patterned ones in this style.
Also two of the jumpsuits in the same style.
Amazing!
Always a compliment and look great dressed up or down.

Enjoy OP!

It's lovely when that happens. About 5 years ago I kept looking longingly at a skirt in M&S, wishing I could afford it. At £39.95, I just couldn't do it. Then one day, when it was still on sale in M&S I found it in my size in the local charity shop for £3.00!

InfiniteSheldon · 13/10/2020 12:53

That's lovely

goldrabbit22 · 13/10/2020 12:58

I love those sleeves.

That style suits me but I like dresses just under the knee so would definitely have to chop some off.

Good buy.

Lipz · 13/10/2020 13:03

Not my cup of tea, a bit bridemaidsey for me but the colour is lovely. Love when you find something that suits, I'm the same re picking up the same item in different colours when I find something I like.

Imissmoominmama · 13/10/2020 13:05

I love a chazzer bargain! That dress is really nice.

Pinkypink · 13/10/2020 19:36

Chazzer bargain -great phrase

Mellonsprite · 13/10/2020 19:48

Very nice, I have never once found anything decent in my local charity shop (except for a cute little dish once).

My friend says the same. She’s always surprised at what I find.

I have a system where I’m either looking for something in particular to complete an outfit, or I’m looking for certain brands. I know what suits me. I like a high neck. I love cottons and linens. I like things that are fitted and flared. Midi length, belts etc. I do buy shoes if they are hardly worn and a good make. I bought a fab pair of Lee Cooper silver van style pumps today and some trigenic Clark’s trainers. I paid s fiver each and they’ll look great with white skinnies in the summer.

So wondering around charity shops and browsing aimlessly doesn’t pay off in my experience. You need to have an idea of what you’re looking for.

My daughter has that dress and loves it. She bought it 3 years ago, so it's not that long ago for it to have been donated.

ScrambledSmegs · 13/10/2020 21:18

I've got this dress in navy with tiny white spots and a red stripe down the side. I saw it being vilified on here and thought it looked great Grin. Have had loads of compliments on it, and yes it's incredibly flattering. Congratulations on your bargain OP!

grassisjeweled · 14/10/2020 01:52

Yip, that's lovely. My fave colour too

Notarealmum · 14/10/2020 05:16

Gloat away! We should all gloat about our charity shop finds 😇
