Bras, pain and where to go

Hi
Gosh, long time lurker but... I need help/advice/an outlet
Bras - I cannot find one that is comfortable, and gives decent shape.
I am size 8-10 but have really small frame and v well cushioned. Measure, boob or bust as 29/36, thanks to MN
But keep ordering bras and they don’t fit. Or at least there is something significantly wrong - armpit boob, sore back
Went into an indie store, well recommended, and they said by sight I was a 34 back?!! Then brought me out a 34c, which I tried on dutifully- they said it fitted perfectly?? Despite the v obvious armpit bulges and the fact it was hanging off my nipples, well nearly.!
Tried panache Clara, looked ok initially but all moon fell in central bottom Quarter and gave me horrible back pain shortly after
Oh yes, indie woman, who shall be known as the bosomier from hell, was disgusted with me when I pointed out my concerns..and from then on was downright obstructive, claiming ‘we don’t sell that size...’
After a few kids, boobs have migrated to armpits, and although have some mass, are v v shallow and I just need something that stops the pain when I’m working etc
Anyway, sorry, tedious, I know. But if there is anyone with any suggestions, they would be sorely appreciated

What sizes have you been ordering to try on?

Your measurements give around 28FF, 30F ish

KatharinaRosalie · 06/10/2020 20:11

You're no 34 for sure.
But have you tried longline bras? Freya does a few. They give great support. www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2380057.m570.l1311&_nkw=freya+longline+bra&_sacat=0

Quiescentdemon · 06/10/2020 20:33

Oh my, so quick! Thank you!! My best current is a Chantelle 30f, but the bloody things fall into the centre and gape at the top and I still have armpit boob...
The evil bosomier was so adamant that it was quite affronting but so clearly wrong at the same time!
Tried a panache 28ff and was quite tight (I do prefer that tho) but gapey and all boob fell into that middle quarter again
I am just at wits end and so f’ing fed up with the multitude of bras that I have to send back
To look at me with no clothes on - eek , look other way - I have vv flat yucks
..??

I would definitely try a smaller band size, that is where you get most of your support from and if you are measuring 29 then 34 would be way to big! I wear 30f and really like Curvy Kate Victory bra, after breastfeeding it's the only one that helps give a good shape. If you go on their website they have the Bra Whisperer you can contact to help with size and styles.

dementedpixie · 06/10/2020 20:36

Might be the style as well. What style are the bras you are trying on

ZZGirl · 06/10/2020 20:41

I really love the sexy lace range by Ann Summers at the moment. They're a really great accurate fit.

Quiescentdemon · 06/10/2020 20:43

I have to say, firstly, that I am
Astonished at the quick replies- thank you. Can you tell I’m a first timer??
Anyway...
I’ve not tried CK, but will look at them. I def, think?, I need wired that come up higher to encase all the boob/flab that keeps trying to escape .
Style-wise - used to wear moulded cups but now too flimsy-boobed and would like a vertical seam balcony ish style, that’s not too £££. Had x4 dc so boobs a little worse for wear but was hoping not to have to buy granny bras for a little bit

Are your boobs quite close set (not much of a gap in the middle)?

StatisticallyChallenged · 06/10/2020 20:45

I'm wondering, like dementedpixie, if the style is wrong. Even in the correct size the wrong cut can be a total fail

Quiescentdemon · 06/10/2020 20:52

Ok... so , I think, and may be wrong, that they are quitting wide set- point outwards and about 3 fingers in between- does that make a difference?

OP posts:
Quiescentdemon · 06/10/2020 21:09

Sorry, that should be just under 2 at highest point they come together. I am useless with all this and tec, but really appreciate any advice

OP posts:
Quiescentdemon · 06/10/2020 21:17

I am sorry, I seem to have made people annoyed/leave.

OP posts:
Quiescentdemon · 06/10/2020 21:35

If anyone’s still there , I don’t know what to do /think anymore . They are just v v flat and would welcome advice. Sorry if I’ve annoyed anyone

dementedpixie · 06/10/2020 21:43

You've not annoyed anyone. Can you link to the bras you have.

Quiescentdemon · 06/10/2020 21:52

Oh, I am uselessness when it comes to any it. It’s taken me many many years to get to this. I am so amazed at any response and annoyed with my boobs that I just want to give any responses a huge hug

There are some really experienced bra people on here who have helped MANY MNers find a good fitting bra, so you're in the right place! I am not one of the experts, but I have had the advice. It used to be called an MN Bra Intervention!

You just need to be really clear with what the issues are, what you've tried and why that didn't work- and the bra gurus will see you right.

Quiescentdemon · 06/10/2020 21:59

Thank you for that, DP, it explains a lot! I am
Still
Useless when it comes to linking.. but recently tried the panache Clara in the 30f and ok ish fit but still armpit boob and really sore back after 10 mins.
Thank you for your help

dementedpixie · 06/10/2020 22:09

Is it the full cup one? Is it gappy at the top of the cup? Maybe full cup isn't your best style. Do you scoop the side boob into the cup?

dementedpixie · 06/10/2020 22:09

I think @StatisticallyChallenged is a bra guru person

StatisticallyChallenged · 06/10/2020 22:18

Definitely not annoyed - just working too (the day never ends with working from home!)

So....
Relatively wide set?
I'm guessing from description, quite soft
Quite wide rooted- breast tissue under your armpits rather than just upfront?
Last one - full on top or full on bottom (boob wise). This isn't as obvious asbit sounds as soft boobs can still be full on top. If you look at your boobs side on, what you are trying to work out is whether more of your breast tissue is on the top or the bottom of your boob. Nipple direction gives an idea - bottom heavy tend to have nipples above majority of boob and still point forwards, whereas full on top have a tendency for the nipple to start pointing south

I think you said you tend to sink to the bottom of cups in which case probably full on botton

StatisticallyChallenged · 06/10/2020 22:24

Thanks @dementedpixie! Not been around much lately, real life getting in the way...

TheSpottedZebra · 06/10/2020 22:37

I meant Statistically -sorry if that wasn't clear.

Albgo · 06/10/2020 22:50

Do you have a Bravissimo shop near you? I'd really reccomend gong there for a fitting.

Quiescentdemon · 07/10/2020 13:42

I do. Actually went there for a fitting and they agreed I’m a 30f/e in some. They fitted the Clara and were happy, as was I at the time, it was later that I realised it was sore.
I really like the look of some longline bras like the Freya love note. Am just getting a bit jaded with all the returns.
Anyone any idea how Freya’s fit compared to panache?
