So my hair is mid/dark brown however I am very grey in all highly visible places like the partline, all around the hairline of the face and of course the little bits near the ears.
Now it is so grey that when I colour it those areas look a different colour to the rest of my head because they are 'white' being dyed brown - - I can't stand it.

I think i need to transition to a lighter colour which I was trying to do pre-March but it was going too orange and was just looking dry and awful. Perhaps the hairdresser wasn't experienced in this enough? or perhaps it's impossible to do?
So anyway to get my hair back into a better condition since then I have been using only semi-permanent and I've been using touchup sprays on the roots.
What should I do for a long term solution? The variation in colour makes me feel like a 60+ year old that's white but trying to stay her young natural colour Blush
I found this "transformation" on Instagram from a 'top' London salon, is it a true transformation or do you think its to good to be true? My hair is slightly darker, but it has warm tinge to it like the image. I'm also super fair, think Morticia! age mid 40's
What do you think?

Might not be what you want to hear but I'm embracing the gray. I'm 40. I get a lot of compliments on my hair.

Are you prepared to put the time and £££££ into it?

I don't mind embracing the grey, but I want to do it gradually so I don't have a visible band of speckled white/grey/brown.
I thought by trying to lighten it that would possibly make the transition a little easier?

It is very common when dark hair is lightened that it gets patchy and orange. It is also common for grets to dye differently. Sure, a good hair dresser could get you there over a couple of appointments. I think baby highlights might help blend things.
One shade of box dye wont give a uniform hair colour in this case.
