Are matching bra and pants out of fashion?

Looking in M&S as I need new underwear to and realised that you can’t buy ‘sets’ any more unless it’s lacy lingerie. There were knickers available in about 100 colours and designs and bras likewise, but no attempt to match them up. Am I hopelessly out of touch to want matching sets of underwear that are pretty but for everyday - in cotton for example?

I always match, but while I have a lot of nice "sets" which are fancy, I pretty much wear black bras from Freya or Fantasie, with black Brazilian knickers or boy-shorts from M&S day to day. So not really an actual set.

M&S and Figleaves have plenty of matching sets on their website. I always buy 2 pairs of matching knix (often in different styles) with every new bra. But I like a touch of lace, so there’s plenty out there for me. Although l would be lying if I said I matched underneath everytime.

I don’t get on with all cotton; lack of stretch.

Yes, generally I wear black or white that only match colour-wise. I should check out Figleaves. And I meant cotton plus lycra or whatever as opposed to shiny/lacy. It just surprised me a bit that (going by what was hanging up) most people buy their coloured underwear as pick n mix. I wondered if I was old fashioned!

The problem I find is that usually, the knickers to match nice bras are made of synthetic fabric - nylon, polyester 🤢. So I buy my bras from Victoria’s Secret or M&S Rosie range, and buy silk or cotton knickers from the same shops in matching colours but not an exact style match. Who want to wear nylon knickers?

There is a happy soft midway between 100% cotton and scratchy nylon. For knickers, stretch lace breathes; it is full of holes. Viscose too is a natural fabric. As for bras, cotton bras have little or no support.

And if you wear tights over knickers, really no need if the tights have a “proper” cotton gusset (you get what you pay for) then you are creating the same effect anyway.

These days, wearing both pants and bra at the same time is pretty "fancy"! GrinBlush. Seriously, no, I don't. I tend to wear m&s stretch lace bralets (no wires, no fastenings) in pretty colours and big, holdy-in, comfy pants in whatever colour doesn't show through my clothes.

PS: l buy the coloured pick and mix M&S brazillians and a few thongs to supplement my matching sets.

I like to match, but matching in M&S is harder than it used to be!
