Help me find a wedding guest outfit - it's getting urgent!

I'm attending a wedding on Thursday. I had been thinking that it might be cancelled due to Covid so hadn't been trying too hard to find something to wear, but it seems like it's going ahead and is all in line with the latest guidelines.

I ordered two dresses from ASOS, tried them on and they both look hideous. I have one 'dressy' dress at home but it's definitely more suited to a winter wedding in both style and material, plus I've put on a bit of weight since I last wore it so it's not very flattering, and I'd really rather not wear it. I own nothing else even remotely suitable!

I'm a 14, with big boobs so I find things that are too low cut look ridiculous and things that are too tight over the bust uncomfortable. I'd rather not have something that's tight fitted and lined, and would prefer to have something with a bit of stretch in it if at all possible. Feeling very self conscious about my mum tum, I keep trying dresses on and it looks like I'm still pregnant.

I'm on a really tight budget, I can probably afford up to £50 but would prefer less if possible!

Any suggestions would be massive welcomed, I'm starting to panic now!

What colours do you suit? What length? Are you also getting shoes or are you looking for something to go with a particular pair?

BlueSlice · 13/09/2020 21:02

And can you link to the dresses you already chose and disliked?

Kayemm · 13/09/2020 21:06

Do you have a pair of smart trousers?

If your budget is tight what shoes do you have?

What's the weather forecast where you are next Thursday?

BringMeThatHorizon · 13/09/2020 21:21

Good questions, sorry I should have provided more info!

Shoes-wise I have either black or rose gold sandals, so should be OK with most things.

I don't generally suit pastels, and rarely wear brights, most of my clothes are black, navy, forest green or jewel colours.

I'm not fussy on length, nothing too short though. I have black work trousers but I don't think they're dressy enough to wear to a wedding.

I'll attach pictures of the two that didn't suit and the one I already own. The blue one has a split up the front that goes too high, the second looks frumpy and shapeless and the one I already own is just tight now and also black, and as the weather looks like it's going to be hot it's not ideal.

I love the first one BlueSlice has linked! There's 15% off asos just now too, the code is on a banner at the top of the website

Bravissimo would be worth a look as they cater for the fuller bust. I have attached a couple of pictures. There are quite a few dresses on sale.
I hope you find something.

P.s. if they are a bit cleavagey I would normally wear a little vest top underneath.

Scruffymac · 14/09/2020 00:04

You sound a similar build to me and my go to is a wrap jumpsuit like the below- colours may not be to your taste but style worth considering? Can be very dressy with the right sandals and a clutch without being fussy.

P. S feel free to send me a pm I've got an asos discount code :)

Thanks @BlueSlice - I like the first one. They have it in rust/orange as well which I like too. The second is nice too and looks lovely on that model.

That first one is really nice @Mixedandproud - I think I'd need some good sucky-in pants though! I hadn't considered Bravissimo so will have a proper look there tomorrow.

I like the idea of a jumpsuit @Scruffymac - thanks! The orange one is nice, I've just done a quick search on ASOS and like this one too, I'm never sure if animal print is wedding appropriate though?

How about this? Would look lovely with some strappy heels and a little black fascinator or pill box hat

Peacocks actually have a few nice jumpsuits and also little cardigans/blazers if you need.

Decent prices there and sometimes has a real gem! X

How did the wedding outfit hunting go? Did you manage to find something?
