Androgenic Alopecia 😔

Hi All.

I’ve posted several times about the hairloss I’ve been suffering from for the last year & a half. Shedding when I wash & brush. Paid privately to see a dermatologist had a scalp biopsy and have been diagnosed with Androgenic Alopecia. Have been put back on the Dianette pill as this helped before when I had a lot of shedding. The pictures attached are today. I think it’s very noticeable now and have been suffering from depression because of it. Does anyone else have this??

Be careful with Dianette. It can cause depression.

@breadcakebiscuits - the dermatologist wanted to do a biopsy to rule out scarring alopecia, now the stitches have dissolved i can’t even feel where it was done to take a photo.

I have had shit thin hair all my life (early menarche aged 9, vegetarian in puberty, fibroids diagnosed at 30 but not removed, all resulting in chronically but not clinically low levels of ferritin). Saw all the specialists, derms, gynae, endo etc, but nobody joined up the dots because I didn’t present as anaemic.

I’ve been supplementing with ferrous sulphate and D3 for a few years just as a prophylactic and it’s definitely helped me feel and look better, but returning to meat and full-fat dairy seems to have made the crucial difference. I still have thin hair (ie not much of it) but the hair I do have is healthy and shiny and my eyebrows and eyelashes look the best they ever have.

Op, you have lovely thick hair that doesn’t look even slightly thin. My hair didn’t look like that before my alopecia started, you really don’t have anything to worry about.
