What kinds of clothes to wear when you have a big stomach

Following on from the trends you'd like to see disappear. I am a size 20, I carry most of my weight around my middle. I've had a section so have an overhang too. (Incredibly attractive as you'd imagine!)
I wear leggings and skinny (more like fat) jeans and usually just tshirts, jumpers, big cardigans etc.
I would like to start dressing a bit more stylishly but wouldn't know where to start. I feel really uncomfortable in clothes in general but I feel the lack of restrictive waists on my trousers has led to a lot of weight gain. I'm looking for style inspiration, if anyone could help...
Just to add I hate heels so everything needs to go with flat shoes/ boots.

Thanks in advance

faux wrap tops are really good (in a flowy, not clingy/jersey material)

You can add a blazer on top to give some structure

something like this

I’m a 16-18, I’m a big fan of a faux wrap top. For trousers I wear boot cut or flares. High waisted trousers are more flattering (I find low waisted just emphasis my muffin top). I have some fab high waisted jeans from Boden and a faux wrap top. I tend to raid their sales because they’re expensive but they do wash well.
I also like wrap dresses with leggings to look a bit smarter.

Thanks for the replies. I had ordered a pair of wide leg trousers. I'm waiting on them to arrive. I'm going to try move away from the leggings and jeggings! I might look into straight leg jeans or trousers.

I find wrap ( or faux) highlight the tummy area, so no good if your issue is from the waist down. And wide- leg tousers make you look bigger unless you are wearing them with a more fitted top.
If you don't want jeans or leggings, try cigarette trousers with a floaty/ loose shirt , which will cover the tummy area. Or a dress and tights/bare legs.

Wide leg trousers from next are fab! They are also high waisted but not too high so cover that ‘mum flap’ as I call it lol

What about a nice wrap dress or a skimming shift dress with thick tights now autumn is almost here? I like to wear mine with flat boots or even trainers. I like snag tights as they pull right up and don’t roll down over my tummy.
