Help needed please, I need some new stylish clothes

I have no idea what's in style these days really and while I'm not overly bothered about fashion I do want to look nice.

I'm sick of wearing jeans and t-shirts (fitted ones but still) and need to find some new things to wear. Practical as I'm a sahm and take dd to school, ds1 to pre-school and then spend the day with ds2.

I'd love some knee length boots but any I've tried are always too loose as I have skinny calves. I'm 28 (almost 29) and feel the need for a change. Picture in profile but taken a few months ago and my hair is now shoulder ish length. Hoping to get a haircut net week though to a graduated bob with longer at the front.

Please help me.

For the boots go to Duo.
www.duoboots.com they do different measurements for your calves. Are expensive but I have bought from them the last few years every winter and they are great!

Re clothes, if you can afford it, maybe invest in some good jeans - 7 for all mankind etc and then even if in jeans you'll look and feel fantastic. Plus get some skinny jeans (really tight) and you can tuck boots in or wear with shoes.

Tops-wise, you could go for layering in silk jersey tops and camisoles (Jigsaw very good for this), and maybe get a leather bomber-style jacket to wear with a chunky scarf (keep your neck warm after your graduated bob and look great too!). Oasis have great ones all in different colours, or topshop have a fake leather one in black at £45 (which I have and have had lots of compliments on)

Any of this sound interesting or am I way off the mark?

Gemy that sounds great thanks. With jeans I don't like the high waisted styles prefer lower ones really but usually wear boot cut. Skinny jeans sound good too. Never heard of 7 for all mankind though.

Anyone else?

My it is quiet today isn't it ToadieG1?!!

seven for all mankind are a designer jeans brand. Lots of celebs have them, and they have a great fit. Other simular brands are Sass & Bide, Citizens of Humanity, J-Brand, Acme etc etc. House of Fraser stocks all premium brands and they retail for around £170. (worth every penny though IMO)

Skinnies are great and so are cigerette jeans. Basically skinnies but less tight - still a straight fitted leg.

I've never heard of any of them . Thanks for the advice.

I am craving some 7 jeans

DH has promised to buy me a pair when I am satisfied that I am back to my 'fighting weight' after having DS 5 months ago. Not long to go, just a couple of pesky love handles!

Sorry, that's nothing to do with your question!

Practical not jeans - how about nice cords, combats if you are that type?

FrannyandZombie · 05/10/2007 18:48

La Redoute often do boots that fit skinny calves better than the average

I have got these and these

What's your budget?

I went into Jigsaw today and fainted with pleasure. I wanted everything. Lots of delicious things and great boots and shoes and and and I wanted it ALL.

They have a new designer apparantly.

ToadieG1 · 05/10/2007 19:04

Thanks. F&Z those are nice, I like them.

Ahundred - no set budget but I don't want to spend vast amounts really I've recently put on a few pounds and want to lose it before buying expensive clothes that won't fit for long. Would like to get a few different things. Once I stop bf I'll try to lose the extra weight. It's weird as I lost it after the birth right away but have now put about 6ish pounds on.
