Trainers for school sports for 15 year old girl

I know nothing about trainers. DD (15) needs trainers for school PE lessons. (Unclear what they'll be doing this term. She's not particularly sporty.) They'll be wearing PE kit all day on PE days. Can someone show me a good "all round" trainer - so many of the ones in the shop look more like fashion than sports kit, with no grip. Or maybe trainers have just moved on and my ideas are old fashioned! Many thanks.

These are good running shoes, there is no 'grip' but that's better for indoor PE and fine for hard surfaces. I suspect they won't be playing that needs grip like rugby!!

Thank you QueenBlueberries - that's helpful. I think I'd been put off the idea of running shoes as they didn't have much grip, but you're right - some of the sports will be indoor.

Can she change her shoes? The worry I would have is that running trainers are often thin and not waterproof - fine for a PE lesson, crap if you have cold, wet feet all day.

Good point, StripyHorse - and they've actually now been told to bring a SPARE pair of trainers to school on the days they have sports! I know it's a pain sometimes to have to stick to regulation/uniform shoes but right now it feels like there's too much choice!

how have you got a 15 year old DD and only now got stuck with this quandry? Has she not worn trainers every single year to date?

Scruffyoak · 30/08/2020 18:25

Mine rarely wear trainers lol

Does she care about labels? Because Decathlon trainers are not bad, good value general purpose trainers. £15, which may be a consideration if you need more than 1 pair.
Decathlon trainers. If she has biggish feet, check out the men’s range too.
