Thoughts please. I need an outfit for an informal part of an interview

This is the start of a multistage interview process. It is for a management job in a roughty-toughty environment. Say a management job in farm equipment. I am visiting the plant and this will be the first time they have met me face to face. There will be the plant manager and the head of the whole company and me and the plant will be operating.
This stage is at the end of the week with a few to other stages next week. I have a simple black dress and a smart black suit but i am worried about looking out of place or being impractical. It is not a field I am familiar with. I am particularly perplexed about shoes. The place is 1h drive and then I will have an office based introduction and a tour around. I have dark blue pointed slip ones and cream kitten heels.
I have a bit if time\money to sort other items.

Good luck OP! If it were me, I'd probably wear flats I could walk in - brogues, ballet slippers or smart lace-ups - so no risk of limping on the tour. I don't think you can go far wrong with a suit. But if you're worried about looking too formal maybe a coloured/patterned blouse to soften it?

Is your suit a trouser suit? I would wear that with brogues or simple mid heels and take a boot bag with work boots type boots. When it is time to tour the plant, just ask if it is a good idea to change footwear and if they say yes,then change them. You won't look odd in a trouser suit and boots. You will look prepared.

@all athousandstrawberrylollys. Thanks yes I think you are right the right footwear is key. I have got a black blouse with a large floral motif (oasis) that I could wear.
@all damnthatanxiety. That sounds good. I have a DM style brogue I could wear.
I think I might go with a calf length floaty dress. It is navy and black, it is elegant. The DM brogues would look intentional as it would be too special occasion. I will post a photo tomorrow.

I don’t think you need to put too much thought into this. It’s an interview so doubt you would be operating machinery etc, so no need to focus too much on practicality. I think wear what you first intended/whatever you feel most comfortable with, but with flat shoes. If it’s a dangerous environment you might need to wear slightly more hard wearing shoes like your doc-dupes as opposed to the slip ons.

@athousandstrawberrylollys
You are spot on. I am anxious and over thinking. I have recently left home because of DV and this job, if I get it is a big step towards a new start. As we all knew it is a tough job market.
