Please tell me about the long term effects of Keratin hair straightening treatment

Menopausal hair is driving me insane!
I'm actually considering for the first time to have a Keratin Brazilian hair straightening treatment. Fear it'll cause more long term damage.

But my hair is not just bone dry and wiry, it's suddenly turned curly. It's vile.

Anyone have straightening treatment at a salon? Does it damage your hair even further?
I've bought tons of serums, conditioners, masks, silk pillow, etc. Even installed a water softener! No impact

Thank you

I've done it in a salon a few times and many more at home. Definitely made my hair feel and look a million times better and lasted several months. I've gone short now so no longer do it but would definitely recommend

It made my hair feel really greasy and no volume.

It hardly lasted 6 weeks so found it too expensive for that. I also felt there was no volume and definitely made my hair drier.

My hair tends to be drier and using warm coconut oil seems to be helping a bit (I leave it for a min of 2 hours)

I now use the Loreal steampod 3. It's great. Less damage than regular straighteners and keeps my hair from going frizzy in humidity.

Friend had it done. Looked great for a few weeks, but once her untreated roots grew through, they were curly and made the base of her hair fluffy and weird looking. The ends still looked great, but her head had an almost halo effect of the fluffiness! She had it re-done a few times, but it got too expensive and time consuming to have to do it so often. She then had months and months of it growing out!

Ive had it done at 2 different salons.

One it didnt last and I was so upset.

Different salon. Lasts about 3 months in my hair and makes SO much difference. Im missing it currently, but dont fance 2-3 hours in an enclosed space.

I have had it done once, no long term side effects.

Short term it made my hair a bit flat and greasy. I didn’t like it.

Hmm. Really interesting views here
Thank you.
Those steam pods sound interesting...

Had it done a few times. First time was the best and lasted longest, they seemed to get less and less effective with each one. I’ve got short hair now so don’t need it anymore. Hated having to leave it three days without washing but there are some you can wash pretty much straight away. Didn’t notice any damage.

Also - they’re not a straightening treatment; it’s to reduce frizz and smooth. I think it’s Yuko if you want straightening.
