To parka or not to parka

I need some help

Primark have knee length parkas in for about £15 and I'm tempted to get one. Are they a bit last year?

They're a bit 'every year' at the moment I think. Still plenty around so I'm sure they're 'in'.

I think RubySlippers might have the coat you are talking about.

Tamdin · 03/10/2007 13:16

I bought this one in black

It looks horrid actually but the black is much nicer and it's really nice on. I looked at pradas new collection and they have the same parka only 10 times the price!

Thanks for the replies, I didn't realise there was another parka thread, I posted this quickly before I left for work and this is the first time I've had a look since.

Went to have a look at lunchtime and there were none in my size, bugger. I can't go back until Monday so I'll try again, they may have some more in. It was only £12 as well. boo

depends whether you are a teenager or not tbh - personally I would say is a major fashion faux pas for anyone over 21!

Walnutshell · 05/10/2007 09:04

I think you can get away with wearing them well over 21, but I'm not exactly editor for Vogue.

Woodenchair, that £12 one in Primark - I tried it on yesterday and found the zip really 'sticky' to fasten and the fur-lined bit round the hood wasn't very stylish when actually worn up. Could, however, just be me... Or the fact that I'm over 21 - perhaps fangs has a point...

[Don't worry about starting a new thread - apparently there are loads on parka's and other suitable coats for buggy-pushers!]

LaCerbiatta · 05/10/2007 11:20

I think this one is great, because it's shaped as opposed to the classic parkas that look like a sac. I have a similar one, but bought 3 years ago and I wear it all the time.

Walnutshell · 05/10/2007 11:32

You absolute star (and why didn't you let me into this secret on my parka thread?) - this is perfect, tug. I may order today. Was yours from LaRedoute? If so, what are they like on sizing?

And black or taupe??

LaCerbiatta · 05/10/2007 13:09

I'm glad!
Mine is from laredoute, but from a different collection, from Acive wear range I think. They don't have it anymore. It is pretty similar to this one though. I have it in taupe (more khaki) and I would never buy black, I think it looks a bit cheap imo. And taupe goes beautifully with black and with absolutely everything else!
I'm a size 10, but with broad shoulders and the size 10 is a little bit too small.

(I only found it yesterday when browsing through the catalogue, or I would have shared my secret earlier!)

Walnutshell · 05/10/2007 15:15

Yes, taupe probably more sensible as presumably would look ok with brown or black trousers/jeans for example. I have problems knowing whether to buy size 10 or 12 as it completely depends upon the shop, sometimes even the item.

Will have a look later when ds not trying to play lego with me!

Ah walnutshell - prampushers coats are like gold dust - I have got a black hooch one with a hood and a boden spotty raincoat - no parker though .
