Summery/casual trousers to wear with converse style trainers

I'd like to find an alternative to jeans that is as versatile (probably one colour so they go with lots of different tops). I'm not sure what to get and so I'm hoping for some ideas please.

I do wear sandals and flip-flops but when I'm walking any distances I prefer trainers. What style of trousers could I buy that go with trainers? I think I'd like cuffs at the bottom but I'm open to other style ideas.
Thanks for any help

Watching as have been on the look out for something similar.

I am old. In the late nineties I wore navy or khaki cotton cargo trousers which were straight leg with big (useful) pockets on the thighs. I loved them. You could roll them up and wear winter or summer.

Chinos? I have a navy pair from next, very soft, not too baggy on the leg (and I think they go with everything)

I have these and they are so comfy. So far I've worn with my tan sand leather, Birkenstock's and Stan Smiths.

I have some of the khaki ones similar to those posted by feel but they're full length. Nice with a slouchy tee tucked in.
Have you heard of these 'magic pants'? They look like jeans (or can get in a variety of colours/prints) and handy for now because they're one size so less concern about fitting if ordering online. They're comfortable and pretty versatile in relation to footwear.

I bought some lovely chino type cropped trousers from the white stuff they are a lovely light grey and are pull on so no zips and have a little slit at the bottom they look great with trainers or flat sandals/flip flops and they were also 15.00 in the sale really chuffed with might get in another colour

Thanks for the ideas - hadn't thought of chinos so I'm going to have a look for them.
@NoBloodyFighting I haven't heard of magic pants before but they sound interesting. Where can you buy them?

Annoyingly I got mine from a local boutique- lots of independents seem to be selling them & they're also on ebay, type it into Google and you'll see what I mean!

@NoBloodyFighting found them! They look great so I've ordered two different colours Blush Blush

Those H&M ones are lovely.

I live in chinos in summer. I have some from Banana Republic and some I got last year from George that are lighter weight fabric but have washed and worn really well.

taking I've got mine on today and they're perfect for this in between weather! Hope you like them.
