What is the most flexible style of ankle boot? For trousers and skirts?

I have tokens to spend in Clarks and looking for a back to work boot (primary teacher!) that will do it all!
I tend to wear mainly dresses with tights/leggings and boots, occasionally slin legged trousers. Love an ankle boot, torn between classic Chelsea or more of a DM style thing. Wondering if there really is one style that's best for all?!

Personally, I think with trousers you need a Chelsea style or a "narrow" lace up, while skirts need a docM style. Docs with trousers look clumpy (but then I have big feet)

Agree with previous poster. Brogues would go with both though.

You need these

Like a Chelsea boot but higher ankle so work with skirts and tights too. Really comfortable, waterproof and just the right amount of chunkiness.

Missanneshirley · 03/08/2020 19:02

Thanks all! I did look at those ones actually nanbread.
So ankle chelseas with skirts are a no no you reckon?

Are heeled boots (could be a small block heel rather than high stilettos) out of the question?

Missanneshirley · 03/08/2020 20:55

No not at all! I just like a chunky boot normally and I always have the mum boot fear where heels are concerned!

I've got lots of ankle boots and wear them all with trousers and skirts. I wear DMs with trousers/jeans and short Chelsea or cowboy boots with dresses and skirts (long & short). I don't really like any of the boots linked, the best ones are the black Chelsea.

winterisstillcoming · 04/08/2020 10:31

I wear shoe boots.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 04/08/2020 10:34

All of those would be fine. You'd need to roll trousers up a bit for the first.

nanbread · 04/08/2020 13:34

I personally think shorter ankle boots with dresses / tights can look a bit unflattering / wrong. But maybe that's just on me.

The reviews of the Orinoco club boots have loads of people saying they wear them with both jeans and tights / skirts so other people seem to think they work.

Missanneshirley · 04/08/2020 22:44

Thank you all!
Nooch what kind of boots do you wear? The tokens limit me to Clarks but I do love shoe shopping even if it's only virtual!

all saints are great for boots in my opinion. They are a bit less feminine than some others but go perfectly with a lot of different choices of trousers / jeans / midi dress (even maxi) and also shorter dresses.
They may seem expensive but I’m not dramatising if I say they last for years and years. Joy to wear each time, look better the more worn in they get.

I have these boots! Wear them with trousers and midi skirts all the time and have had many compliments. They're incredibly sturdy. I have narrow feet and have found the regular size quite snug so would suggest wide for anyone with slightly wider feet or thicker ankles.

TheVeryHungryTortoise · 04/08/2020 23:03

Sorry about the blatant cross post, I didn't see the previous posters link!

MrsPerfect12 · 04/08/2020 23:57

I wear Chelsea boots with jeans rolled up a tad. I think it looks fine. I prefer brown over black but always big both.
