Best foundation?

Sorry if this has been done before, but I have just spent lots on Elizabeth Arden stuff and the foundation (cream compact type, first time I have used anything so heavy but I need it!)and it seems to emphasize bad points not hide them. My pores look huge and it makes me look washed out. Also feels heavy as am used to liquid lighter ones. So what do others use? Like the idea of a compact as it seems quicker. Am a SAHM but do have the occasional night out and like to wear a bit of make up in the day anyway to look human.

Yes, you can order little mini pots on that website. I can't remember how much they are but I think they're less than £1 and the P&P is reasonable too.

It takes a bit of getting used to if you're used to heavy foundation but it really does work and you can't feel it on your skin at all. It's the best thing I've found for hiding open pores too. Normal foundations look good when you put them on but sink into the pores after a few hours. With the mineral powder it looks good all day and I don't need to touch up with compact powder.

The Estee Lauder pore thing really does work but it's not cheap...maybe you could use your vouchers or you could ask at a counter to see if they've got a sample size for you to try?

I am also a recent convert to mineral powder foundation - looks very natural, takes no time to apply and good coverage. I went to Trish McEvoy in Selfridges for a makeover and it was fantastic - the lady taught me a quick routine which looks very natural - the make up cost a fortune but it is lovely !

Thank you, I had been wondering about mineral foundation but didn't know if it was worth it or not. Boots didn't seem to have it but I will ask at debenhams next time I am in town. No selfridges sadly.

I use the Bare Escentuals mineral one and it's fab. QVC often have it on offer. You can also get the starter kits on ebay. It seems expensive but lasts for ages.

Watling, when you say water cleansers are bad for your skin, if you use a cream cleanser is it still not good to rinse off with water?

Thanks watling. How do you make sure it all off then? Is that where toner is best?
