My straighteners seem to tear my hair

I've had my straighteners for a few years now. I use them every other day. I've noticed in the past few months they seem to tear my hair when I use them!

I know they're not the best but I can't get away with not styling my crappy fine non wavy / non straight hair! Do you think I need to replace my straighteners or is it a product issue? My hair has become really damaged. I tend to just use mousse (for volume, and to allow me to go two days between washing!) It has heat protection in it but it's clearly not enough!

It sounds like the ceramic top coat has gone, so yes, you’ll need new straighteners.

Yes this is a sure sign they need replacing. Mine did the same and when I sat down and really thought about it I had been using them for 8 years!!!
