Avarca Menorquina (menorcan style) sandals - does the heel strap stay in place?

Really fancy a pair for the summer, but worried I'll be annoyed by the heel strap slipping?

The style works well on my feet - secure when on, but easy to slip off when I want. However I find this style much better for ambling about casually than longer walks because they aren't very supportive and don't have a lot of room to spread toes.

Love mine (all from Solillas if it makes a difference). Heal strap has enough structure to stay in place and I’ve done a good few thousand steps in a day.

I'm on my second pair. The first pair lasted four years and are still ok - just a bit looser than I'd like. I've got the wedge style as I don't like completely flat shoes and I can walk for miles in them.

Stumpedasatree · 19/07/2020 21:27

Mine have definitely loosened with time to the point they slip off now.

frugalkitty · 19/07/2020 21:27

Yes, but buy snug as they do give a bit over time. I love mine. Try TKmaxx, they're usually about £16 a pair.

IndecentFeminist · 19/07/2020 22:02

Proper ones do. I've had some next copies and some palmaira ones...only the latter stayed put.

XingMing · 20/07/2020 14:33

As PPs suggest, yes the heel straps do stay on, and they are very comfortable, especially if you have the option of the slightly thicker sole.

AWryGiraffe · 20/07/2020 14:55

Which brands would you recommend, those who have had comfy ones?

TheWoollybacksWife · 20/07/2020 15:05

I bought mine from Varca. The pair I've just bought cost £68 but if they last as long as the previous pair then that works out at £17 per year for practically daily summer wear for 4 years.

onemouseplace · 20/07/2020 15:07

Mine do, but they do get a bit looser over time. I buy the Palmairas ones, but they aren't the cheapest.

Userengage · 20/07/2020 19:21

I bought some Avarcas in Menorca and the woman in the shop advised me to buy a close/snug fit as they stretched quickly. TK Maxx does them as PP mentioned.

ElspethFlashman · 20/07/2020 20:44

I bought Avarcas in Spain. The strap definitely stays up and I really liked that they covered your toes/bunions. But they are very flat and leather inner got rough under the sole of my foot and uncomfortable.

But that was after 4 years and hundreds of miles so not bad! I'd definitely repurchase.

AlphaJura · 20/07/2020 22:42

I've never tried them but my mum always wears them and has had a few pairs. They must be quite good.

TKMaxx currently have a range of sizes and colours, online in the sale...might just treat myself!
