I am such a fashion numpty!! Is it (merely) because I is poor??! ;o)

I have a panicky thread running about clothes for the Christmas do.. on which Hobbs (Hobbes?) were mentioned (by Nailpolish I believe.. albeit wistfully) and I though "WTF?" so I googled... bugger me.."clothes for women with money to spend..." So that's why I've never heard of them!

AHundredTimes (is that her name.. I can never remember it.. I remember HER just not her name) has attracted a school gate psycho suffering from Bag Envy... with her Chloe purchase. "WTF?" I thought again.. only to find that Chloe make lovely and expensive bags.

My SIL has an obession with those bags with Scotty dogs hanging off them (she's nowt better to do ) so I now know about Radley....

Thing is, I can just be such a style numpty because I'm, broke, surely.. my similarly financially challenged friends are always saying to me.. "you must have heard of... (whatever)." (I never have.)

And it's not that I am disinterested in clothes.. I like them.. I just don't really possess any...

Is anyone else as clueless as me??!

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 28/09/2007 17:41

OrmIrian · 28/09/2007 17:44

So am I. And in my case poverty isn't the only reason. I just don't care that much. But being poor doesn't help that's for sure.

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 28/09/2007 17:47

You don't believe I am hard up Naily? Why? Do I exude affluence in my every word??! Ha ha ho ho...

I don't think I have much Fashion Sense either.. how can I get some??! I like clothes.. honest!

Fashion is for those that shop in stores without grocery conveyor belts. I have no time to worry about it, but do know some brands as friends (those who do shop and eat lunch) discuss and purchase them.

I'm not totally clueless, just lazy and tight!

cocolepew · 28/09/2007 17:48

I refuse to be a fashion victim and buy things for their name or because they're lastest fad. Pah! Sheep.

Yes I'm poor too.

I love George too (not Clooney, Rich People). But his new range of jeans are too long for me and they used to be perfect.

Wotzknot · 28/09/2007 17:54

Shiny - you mean Giorgio

"oh yes I got it from Gerogio"

bozza · 28/09/2007 17:58

New Look is my suggestion.

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 28/09/2007 17:59

Naily.. yes I am. I have been to a funeral today. It was a challenge to find a pair of black trousers and put it with a top that looked ok-ish.. I just don't do smart!

But I had a picture in my head of how I would like to look for this funeral.. not that looking good was important.. was really sad.. DS's swimming coach, age 45, father of 3, killed on his motorbike on way to work a week ago last Monday ) but I wouldn't even know how to go about purchasing the cheap^ versions of the outfit in my head!

I think I have some modicum of fashion sense bursting to get out somewhere!

I have money in the bank and can't be bothered with all that fashion malarkey . designer handbags? so long as its the right size and a shoulder strap, thats me done. Dogs belong on lead not hanging from handbag. Or in them

I look for clothes in asda too. But because its all tat (apart from t-shirts) I don't even buy that.

THEREFORE I have money in the bank!!!!

(I work from home but before that had an office in a university - can you tell?)
