Tell me about your favourite hairbrush?

I had an absolutely beautiful mason pearson for years, but it turned out the boar bristles were the main reason I had such problems with static and fly-away. Then I had a babyliss brilliant shine, which I quite liked, but I was never sure the ionising anti-frizz claims weren't just marketing talking. Most recently I had a cheap paddle from the chemist's which was brilliant until the plastic started cracking!
I'm looking for a new hairbrush, something that would last, preferably with a respectable heft to the handle. Any recommendations, mumsnetters?

I have an Aveda paddle brush. It’s fantastic!

Just to say mason and Pearson also do all-nylon bristle versions ( think it might be called a junior) . Ive used mine daily for almost 20 years and it’s still in great condition. I never liked the bristle versions - they were too soft for my thick hair - but the nylon one has been worth every penny for me.

Mason Pearson Universal is the all nylon one. Love mine.

I have a denman and several tangle tweezers for when desperate...

Mnhealth202020 · 13/07/2020 01:27

I have a few, I’m not fussy.

For general use I have a tangle tweezer (fragile hair version) and a wide toothed GHD comb.

For drying my hair I have 3 GHD brushes, paddle brush, large round brush, small boar bristle round brush

For other styling I have a teasing comb & a normal one

Most versatile is the GHD paddle brush, it has a slight weight to it

I rarely brush my hair... I find it's less knotty when I don't... I like the tangle teezer. I have two.

HousesforChickens · 13/07/2020 06:29

Mason Pearson Nylon and bristle. I have 3 in different sizes, the oldest one is nearly 20 years old and still going strong.
Also have a tangle teezer for when my hair is wet.

Disfordarkchocolate · 13/07/2020 06:32

I love my Manta hairbrush, it's fantastically gentle and so good for my scalp. I don't style my hair with a brush so I can't recommend any for that.

I have the Hersheson's Ceramic Ionic brush for blow drying and the Knot My Problem brush for daily use. Love both.

fairydustandpixies · 13/07/2020 06:43

Tangle Teezer (sp?) before washing my hair and my afro comb for when its wet (I have very curly hair!).

CeeceeBloomingdale · 13/07/2020 06:48

Only a Denman can cope with the thickness of my hair

Hercwasonaroll · 13/07/2020 06:51

Wow to the person who gets less knots with no brushing. Mine resembles a dreadlock after one day of no brushing. It is very fine and lots of it.

I have a tangle teaser I like the best.

athousandstrawberrylollys · 13/07/2020 13:01

Thank you all very much! I am off to have a look at all of these

I have a Tek wooden hair brush, which I got from TK Maxx. It's much cheaper there than it is on Amazon. It's an absolute dream to use. My hair is very dry, frizzy & tangly and it gets through knots so easily with no pain or static. The 'pins' are wooden and I think that is what makes all the difference. I also bought the handbag version because I love it so much.

Long knotty hair so use wide tooth comb when just out shower, then a wet brush then a brush with lots of vents for hot air to pass through when drying, no idea if it helps but id like to think so. Love denman, dont lnow why i stopped using one
