Hi
Can anyone recommend any good clothes companies which specialise in pure cotton / linen clothing (especially tops etc) for me as i am suffering really really bad menopausal hot flashes almost all the time (preferably a company with a sale on at the moment :)
thanks

I just wear M and S cotton tees, and avoid linen like the plague because it crumples like hell and makes me look like a bundle of dirty washing 🤣.
I find that having a fitted cotton vest helps absorb sweat well, so wear them under loose cotton shirts.

I just got a couple of Mountboard sleeveless linen tops to help with the Italian summer (not menopausal here yet, but a chronic overheater) and they are terrific.

If you can wait a bit for delivery, there's also a company called Vogstyle who sell via Amazon. I've had some lovely floaty linen stuff from them.

thanks for posting this is really helpful.

sadly due to oestrogen related breast cancer i am on letrozole and for me that medication is the devil incarnate. and i cannot take the common herbs other ladies take during menopause because of it (i think that is what my consultant told me).

thank you for replying

What sort of style? For inexpensive stuff, Uniqlo does 100% linen shirts / blouses and some trousers and dresses, and some of my favourite linen trousers have been ASOS, weirdly!

nitgel · 12/07/2020 15:47

Uniqlo

Flowers for you OP

barbrahunter · 12/07/2020 16:28

I read that you can't take any herbs etc OP, have you tried a menopause magnet? Or would that not be suitable?

YogiMatte · 12/07/2020 16:32

Seasalt do a lot of cotton tops

JinglingHellsBells · 12/07/2020 16:57

I don't know your medical history @Bubblebu but is there any reason why you won't consider HRT? It's very safe nowadays and very effective. No need to put up with hot flushes when HRT could sort them out.

JinglingHellsBells · 12/07/2020 16:58

Sorry- just read your previous post.

Elouera · 12/07/2020 17:02

Asda and sainsburys TU have some linen trousers and cotton T-shirts and blouses. All are very good value too.

thedevilinablackdress · 12/07/2020 18:13

Seasalt, COS are two that spring to mind. But mainly eBay for lovely linen that would be £££ new from Oska, Toast, Flax....I do love linen. Crumples and all.

StCharlotte · 12/07/2020 21:17

M&S do a lot of linen.

DelphiniumBlue · 12/07/2020 21:28

Kit & Kaboodal, excellent for loose linen tops and t shirts.

JaneJeffer · 12/07/2020 23:50

Principles do 100% cotton t-shirts.

Honeywort · 13/07/2020 00:23

What works for me at night is a spaghetti strap top, then spraying myself lightly with water- could b3 an Evian spray or just an old perfume atomiser I’ve filled up with tap water.

Crosswithlifeatm · 13/07/2020 00:56

I keep wet wipes in the fridge, cools you a bit and removes sweat ,mine was especially bad on my forehead and cleavage.

Bubblebu · 13/07/2020 08:25

thanks for all the suggestions, I really need to get through this to some kind of normal, letrozole is evil stuff and it feels like I have beeds of perspiration constantly on my hairline as if ive just jogged somewhere when I have done nothing of the sort.

and always wondering "is it hot / humid today or is it JUST ME??"

horrible

but thank you for all the recommendations

Try Vera Tucci, lots of gorgeous linen clothes, and they have a sale at the moment.

cannot have HRT - breast cancer due to my own body producing way too much oestrogen

I suffer dreadfully with hot flushes (I’m on HRT but not been on it long!) and personally I find anything linen awful and uncomfortable. I actually prefer stretchy jersey type stuff. It’s softer and more comfortable. I just size up to get more room for air conditioning! Grin I buy a lot of stuff from Yours and also from Cotton Traders. Some of it is horribly frumpy but if you choose carefully you can get the odd nice bit from both.

Bubblebu · 13/07/2020 08:39

thanks bagels
will have a look.

oh how I wish I could have HRT but it would kind of reverse 6 months chemo and then all the radiotherapy I had after surgery

Nomads are worth a look.

ErrolTheDragon · 13/07/2020 09:14

Lands End have a lot of cotton and linen.

Quickly removable layers ... I remember the light dawning on me why women tend to move from jumpers to cardis etc at a certain point. Grin A vest top with a linen shirt over can be good in summer.
