Anyone have any Boire Watery Essence handy? Do I have a fake?!

I've been using Biore Watery Essence for a couple of years now - a Mumsnet recommendation of course! I usually order it from Japan or Hong Kong - sometimes from eBay, sometimes Amazon.

I opened my latest bottle today (eBay, Hong Kong seller with good feedback).

The label says PA+++ instead of the usual PA++++. I thought, mmm, perhaps they've just changed the formulation...I've just put some on and it smells different, slightly plasticky... at least I think it does... I don't have the old bottle to compare it to. Plus it might be thicker than normal but again, I have nothing to compare it to so maybe I'm just being paranoid.

Anyone have any handy? Does it smell of plastic? Anyone ever had a fake?

I’ve stopped buying this because I have no idea how to buy it and guarantee it’s not a fake, and the real stuff if just the best ever. It makes me really sad actually! Someone recently posted pictures of their fake from Amazon so you might find that on an advanced search.

Here's some pics of one I bought from Amazon last year.....it came sort of shrink wrapped into a cardboard pack. I assumed it was real but I'm not expert. It certainly stops my face from burning.

Going by the pakaging, with the writing at the back slightly off center, I would say fake.
I had this with a Chanel perfume I bought off ebay. Wouldn't have known from looking it was fake, until I put it next to my real bottle and it was pretty obvious.

So mine are in an actual bottle rather than a tube see pic. Last bout over 12 months ago so maybe package has changed since then. I would have no idea if it was fake or not but it works

@imnottoofussed that's a slightly different version - it's a gel - the other one is watery essence

Not sure if this is helpful, this is definitely genuine as I bought it in a shop in Japan, but last year so I think packaging may have updated since then.

Ah I didn't realise there were different ones it's not remotely gel like to be honest and looks like the same white liquid in the earlier photos

Thank you! Lets and Nathan that's what my last bottle looked like iirc. Maybe I should just buy from a reputable dealer (who?!) and compare?

I do think my instincts are probably right though - might see if I can get a refund from eBay. Such a bloody bugger if you can't actually buy it online for fear of counterfeit
