Is it just me or is it Zara?

Ok.. now I know I've put on an extra pound or 6 over the last couple of months, but I went into Zara yesterday and NOTHING would fit me.

I have been a size 10 for years. Bearing in mind I've been overeating for a few months, I took size 12s in changing room. They wouldn't go over my arse I tried a lovely skirt on in a 14 and even that was all rucked up and strained looking.

Oddly, out of 4 pairs of size 12 trousers, 2 were huge, one was ok and one wouldn't even go up my thighs.

So, am I a bigger lard arse than I think I am, or are Zara sizes just weird?

I tried on some trousers in there and they were on the small side.

Tinker · 27/09/2007 12:45

Zara are for teeny tiny people

Tinker · 27/09/2007 12:45

Go to Gap - always good for teh ego

NorthernRockCod · 27/09/2007 12:46

TOO LONG trews

lulu25 · 27/09/2007 12:47

it's not you

zara clothes are designed for six-foot amazons with no tits

they also fall apart when you wash them

Sheherazadethegoat · 27/09/2007 12:47

you need the snake hips of a teenager. i can wear their dresses but dare not try on their trews.

themoon66 · 27/09/2007 12:49

Oh but the length of the trousers was perfect.. I am a six foot amazon obviously LOL.

Just the width of the thighs and the waists seemed odd.

Tops are fine - anything else forget it (unless you are a size 4 teenager).

lulu25 · 27/09/2007 12:52

gah, i am a stocky-legged buxom peasant

jigsaw? cut for a more mature lady (and i always have to get their trousers taken up)

onefootinthegravy · 27/09/2007 12:53

Zara sizes are notoriously small! I sell a lot of clothes on ebay and usually end up putting Zara clothes under a size smaller than they actually are and then I just list the measurements to the buyers so they can see for themselves!

francagoestohollywood · 27/09/2007 12:55

Sizes are weird at Zara. They are weird everywhere to be honest. So I'm 8 at gap, but a 12 at topshop. At topshop I'm mostly a 12, but sometimes a 10, others a 14. THEY ARE ALL TAKING THE PISS.

themoon66 · 27/09/2007 12:57

Agree... they ARE all taking the piss

OP posts:
Tinker · 27/09/2007 12:59

Ditto franca. That's why I love Gap, so I can say I'm an 8. I also have non-long legs (hesitates to say short)

NorthernRockCod · 27/09/2007 12:59

NO THYE NOW DO INCHES MEASUREMENTS
AN D AL SIZES ARE GIVEN IN UK ONES

francagoestohollywood · 27/09/2007 13:00

Evil multinationals that make us all look the same, with weird sizing... (mind you I do have a soft spot for zara)

francagoestohollywood · 27/09/2007 13:00

I don't do inches I'm afraid . It took me years to figure out my British size.

themoon66 · 27/09/2007 13:01

Cod... found some lovely cropped leggings for the gym in TKMaxx... USA Pro ones. Made of synthetic breathable fabric that doesn't make you look like you've wet yourself when you get all sweaty working them weights! 12.99... bargin.

ta

wil look

SSSandy2 · 27/09/2007 13:58

their clothes are weird. NOthing ever fits properly

Blondilocks · 27/09/2007 20:20

I'm now convinced that they just put all the size labels in a big pot & pick them out at random before sewing them on.

I am anything from a size 8 to a size 14 in Jane Norman alone, which is just ridiculous!
