Best drugstore /high street foundation for wedding

Can anyone recommend a foundation from Boots, Superdrug etc that would be good for wearing to my wedding?

I hate wearing foundation but have quite blotchy skin so think it's best i wear one. Because i dont wear it often, i don't fancy buying one thats too expensive.

My skins oily but dehydrated (desperately trying to fix this!) I don't want anything too thick but enough to give decent coverage.

I have a bottle of L'Oréal True Match which is ok but doesn't last on me at all. I have heard good things about L'Oréal Infallible but was wondering if anyone had any recommendations?

Once ive got some ideas then i need to work out what shade i am which is going to be a nightmare seeing as i cant test anything!

I like Bare Minerals, which you can order in to any Boots, I would have thought.

I also love my current one, which is No 7 and it has the protect and perfect serum in it. I also have problem skin which can be dry but sometimes breaks out if I add anything oily.

These both last a reasonable length of time on me, but I would definitely not last the length of a whole wedding plus reception.

Is your wedding soon op? I guess you aren't able to have a big reception or anything.

Best of luck with it!

All going well with Nicolas announcement next Thursday then we're due to get married the end of July! It was always going to be sma wedding so im just hoping she increases the numbers a bit and allows indoors. So we won't be having a reception just a garden party.
I didn't even think of No7. I love their skin care range so ill check them out and it might be easier for someone at a counter to have a guess at shades for me!

Revlon colourstay. Easily the best foundation in boots and they have a version for dry/Normal skin or oily/combination.

It has excellent coverage without being like a mask and if you set it with a light dusting of powder it stays all day and night. I love it. I’m a big fan of make up including the expensive stuff and i wore this on my wedding day.

I like Revolution Conceal & Hydrate or Conceal & Define. Available at Superdrug and has loads of shades, although you can’t test them at the moment AFAIK.

Ohjustme · 04/07/2020 22:11

@chrissyPlummer i actually use those concealers but wasn't a fan of the matching foundation. The concealers are brilliant though!
@LovelyBranches i decided to get a bottle of the Colorstay after reading plenty of excellent reviews. Did struggle a bit with choosing a shade as a lot looked like they had a pink undertone so hopefully the one I went for suits!

Oh fantastic, I have neutral/yellow undertones and I wear the sand beige and it’s perfect. Hope the right shade arrives for you

cantsaynotocake · 04/07/2020 22:44

My all time favourite is Borjours healthy mix xx

Ohjustme · 04/07/2020 23:49

Brilliant update, OP, I came on especially to recmend Revlon Colorstay - it's been my 'go to' foundation for years and I wore it for my wedding, too! Smile

Ohjustme · 08/07/2020 11:28

I'll definitely wear it for other occasions i like it so much. Feel i won't need any concealer either which is a bonus!

IT Cosmetics CC cream. Full coverage but doesn’t feel or look like it. Smoothing, colour corrects and blurs. It’s very good. Comes in three finishes - matt, velvet and illuminating.

DameXanaduBramble · 08/07/2020 11:33

For a wedding choose one without an spf, it whitens with a flash.

LovelyBranches · 09/07/2020 16:28

Fantastic news Ohjustme. Hope your day goes wonderfully

Highperbolay · 09/07/2020 16:32

The Primark Perfect Finish foundation, the one in the squeezy tube and is £2.50. It's literally my holy grail foundation! The coverage is medium but buildable, there is no flashback, it blends like an absolute dream and because its so cheap you can mix colours to get your perfect shade. I just love it! It's apparently a dupe for Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk but Ive never tried that one, but the Primark one is definitely worth a try!

I agree with Revlon ColourStay. I took the risk of never having tried it before and wore it for my wedding. I had it on from 11am and left the venue after 12ish hours. It obviously looked a bit worn down by the end, but still looked good in photos :)

Great you've found one.
I was going to suggest Barry M 'All night long'. Only about £6 and great.
