If you still own and love Chanel rouge noir ...

What other nail varnish do you own that I might like?
I’ve owned a rouge noir since pulp fiction, and although I don’t paint my nails often, when I put this one on it always gives me a boost and makes me feel a bit kick ass if I’m feeling a bit flat.

I do own other polishes, but nothing quite measures up. Would like a bit of variety though 😍

I really like rouge noir, but have recently discovered Barry M 'Chocolate' which makes a nice change!

Dark blue looks god too I think.

Also, I learnt the other day that Uma Thurman wasn’t wearing rouge noir. Sorry!

WingBingo · 27/06/2020 22:26

God? Argh. Good, it looks good.

Yes, it had another name in America. I didn’t actually even watch the film 🤣 but I just love the colour. I have a few nails inc and opi colours, but I resort back to this each time. I do have a Chanel dark blue one I was bought as a gift, but I tend to just wear that one for concerts.

It was called Vamp in the US but definitely the same shade.
Rouge Noir shades - I find Essie Wicked better, personally - are really the only shades I truly love. They go with everything and look great through every season. I did wear Gucci dark anemone but it appears to have been discontinued and I cannot find it anywhere online.
In short, OP, you’ll find it impossible to find another shade that you love as much or works with everything. I’ve stopped bothering.

Thanks damedoom I’ll have a look at the Essie one. Yes I think you’re right!

I looooooove Rouge Noir. It’s my default polish and I must be on my 3rd or 4th bottle. I am forever 90s. My alternatives are a really dark inky blue by Autograph from M&S (brilliantly and imaginatively named Dark Blue), a very shiny chrome silver by Nails Inc called Cambridge Terrace or a strange green-gold by Chanel called Peridot.

Disclaimer, these are toes only. My fingernails tend to stay lighter colours. Not out of any aesthetic choice, but because they chip faster and dark / high coloured polish is an arse to remove.

Llamazoom · 28/06/2020 12:45

It’s the only nail colour I like, Rimmels Black Cherry lasts a lot longer and chips less than Chanel, think it’s £2.99 a bottle.

Thanks for these other suggestions, I’ll look at them all!

Hello fellow rouge noir lovers!! I discovered it in 1995 when I started work age 18 and the glam ladies in their 20s in the office I worked at in London wore it! So whenever I do wear it, it reminds me if being young and excited in my first job. I always have a bottle in my dressing table and I’d say I probably wear it maybe half a dozen times a year. Great to hear of the alternatives.

emma6776 · 28/06/2020 21:03

I love it too! The only other ones I wear nearly as much are Rimmel Punk Rock & Essie Snakeskin. I also use Rimmel Black Cherry as my cheaper alternative!
