Underwear queens - help!!!

I'm being a bridesmaid in 4 weeks and have to go for a dress fitting in 10 days. The dress is strapless and kind of fitted to just above waistlevel where it flares out.

I'm a 38DD, size 18 with wobbly bits that I don't want to make it up the aisle before me so how can I reign them in?

Ideally I'd like something that's all-in-one with built in pants and suspender option (the bride has opted not to have anything over the strapless dresses so every extra bit of clothing will help! brrrrr)

I did try on some of Debenhams shape wear stuff - one squeezed me to the knees so i could barely walk and the other, well, I got my head and arms in and then, despite some serious thrashing around, I couldn't get it to go down any further!

Please someone recommend something fab that preferably has a fastener of some kind so I don't strain something getting into it!

Well I'm not really an underwear queen and I'm relatively norkless, but surely somebody out there can help? Have you looked on www.figleaves.co.uk ? They have a good selection of shapewear.

get a good push up strapless bra and then magic pants for the rest. there are countles variations on these 'big tights that come up to below your boobs' control underwear things. they are comfie adn you will wear them again. don't bother with the fancy suspender belt contraptions.

Sheherazadethegoat · 27/09/2007 08:54

this sort of thing

you can get them with thong bottoms or bum control all sorts. tk max sometimes have them.

DON'T do strapless bra and control pants

they'll squish you into the middle and you'll look like a christmas cracker.

Go to a large dpartment store like Debenhams and talk to the assistants, tell them what you are wearing. You would be better with an all in one with "legs" like cycling shorts, rather than a skirt style bottom half

MamaG · 27/09/2007 11:01

(if its not an all in one, chances are during the course of theday the top of the trouser part will roll down whilst your belly muffins out over the top

dont scrimp on whatever youdo get. cheaper price tends to mean cheaper quality, and this is one place where you need the best qualtiy you can get.
figleaves is excellent. and you get 10% off. plus, there are usually, thgouh not always other discount codes flying around.
if you can afford it, go to rigby and peller in london and get something really decent. beware, it may cost more than the dress.

i bought this whena size 16 and it worked wonders. the cheaper ones were much harder to get on and off, but this was very comfy, and kept me warm. with a good bra, should be fine.(i bought a large i think) though maybe wrong

Thanks guys!

I went to figleaves and bought this www.figleaves.com/uk/product.asp?product_id=CH-SU008&mci=&size=&colour=&image=r1733-p474627-p0001-st yle

I ordered a couple and tried them for the best fit and that one won. Although it didn't slim me as much as the other one that I tried, it had a nicer shape, a better cup fit and it didn't take me 20 minutes to struggle into!!

I did try the strapless bra/control pants option but the pants just rolled down and squeezed me hard - ouch!!
