Hooded eye surgery

So I am thinking of having surgery to correct my very hooded eyes. Has anyone had this done?

It's a genetic thing, my mums where very hooded too, but obviously as I've got older and everything is sagging anyway, my upper eyelids are really heavy. It makes my eyes feel tired and I think its actually starting to impede my eyesight a bit as they literally sit on my eyelashes.

It doesn't look like a big procedure, but I'd love to hear if you've had it done and if it was a success?

Katharina would you mind uploading a pic of your eyes now? and before the surgery? as the 5 day later one still looks as if it is healing so I would be interested to see proper before and afters. it's something Ive always considered as I have hooded eyes x

Sure, here are the before and afters. As you see the change is not drastic, nobody else has noticed anything but I am much happier.

Oh my god I would love this doing

I hate my hooded eyelids

@Sheeshisthatthetime I think I paid £3,500 (in 2007). It was a little more than the others because of the sedation vs general anaesthetic, which requires more work apparently. I used Maurizio and Roberto Viel. Feel free to PM me if you like.

openupmyeagereyes · 22/06/2020 13:37

@KatharinaRosalie where did you get them done? It looks amazing. I would love to get this done but think I’d be far to squeamish and worried about moving to have a local anaesthetic with it!

Abroad. Price was also reasonable, 1200 EUR. kirurgia.ee/en/

Thanks @AlexChitChatting, I am definitely looking into this

@LoafEater it was Dr Viel - can't remember which one (they are twins and both are surgeons in the same practice). Things might have chanced since however. New surgeons might have come on the scene who are as good or even better.

Useful thread - I'm thinking about this too, only because I think it's affecting my eyesight, I'm having to lift up my eyebrow all the time, which is giving me headaches. What sort of surgeon does it, does it fit into opthalmology?

MehMehMeow · 23/06/2020 12:54

I feel my eyelids sit almost on my eyelashes and every time I look in the mirror I see my grandmother looking at me. I love her to pieces but my eyes depress me. It doesn’t help my eyebrows aren’t related - never mind sisters or twins. I’m only 40 but feel my eyes age me.

I’d really like this done but weirdly only one of my eyes is significantly hooded. Can they do it on one or would it end up looking all lopsided?

I had a brief consultation a year or so ago and found the surgeon quite unhelpful - he basically said no point doing it now as will only get worse with age .. but surely that’s the point, I want to get it done now to improve it rather than wait another 10 years and look like my grandma! (Am 37 now)

KatharinaRosalie · 25/06/2020 09:08

bumble yes sure they can fix this. If you look at my before photo, you can see one of my eyes was also more droopy, they took off more from the corner.
