Style crisis - I need new clothes but don’t know what to buy!

Hello!
So, for various reasons I have really had new clothes for a few years. Pregnancy, breastfeeding, no money, and now covid19.
However what I have is now worn and tatty and very outdated and I need to smarten up.
The thing is I don’t even know where to look. I used to shop in H&M , new look and then some key prices from more expensive places. My budget is low but happy with eBay second hand.

The thing is I am in my forties. Short (5’2’ ), apples shape, very flat chested, with broad shoulders and a fairly muscular physic. So although I’m a size 10, I look like a man in a dress, if I wear anything frilly or floaty.
I guess I’m looking for classic style with a modern edge. I’m rural, and not looking for an urban look. But want to move away from ‘mumsy’.

Jeans are a big issues. High waisted jeans make my tummy look big and bum flat. I’ve been wear new look Jenna which are skinny mid rise, and I like them. But feel so dated and out of fashion in them.

Can anyone recommend some good shops to look at on line? I miss going into the city and looking at the shop models and other people for ideas. But I’ve no intention of going, so stuck with online for now. (And it’s hard to find short, slightly overweight, apple shape clothes models for ideas 😁)

Articles that give advice on dressing an Apple.

Don’t be store specific, look at all shops. I’m in my 50s and have just brought clothes from Top shop and Dorothy Perkins. Look for the styles that suit you, whether in m and s , or Primark.etc.
