If your boobs are no longer big enough for Bravissimo, but you still need support...

... where do you get your bras from?

I used to be a 30G, but breastfeeding 2 kids + several years of gradual weight loss mean that my boobs have shrunk. I'm probably something like a 28D now. Not really sure as none of the half dozen bras I just ordered from Bravissimo, many of which were in the smallest size they do, fit me.

But, the girls still need a bit of support, otherwise they hang there like a couple of quarter-filled saggy balloons. To add to the mix, I'm finding underwires increasingly uncomfortable (or maybe it's just because the bras don't fit right).

Any recommendations of where to get bras from? I'm thinking John Lewis, but their selection online is overwhelming and giving the impossibility of shopping for bras in person at the moment, I need somewhere a bit more user-friendly online... Basically, I need Bravissimo for the smaller-of-nork... Does such a place exist?

Have you measured yourself? Boob or bust would give an idea of size

Glendora · 13/06/2020 20:54

I have - using Boob or Bust and it seemed wildly off. (It said I was a 28H, which I know isn't right, because I have a bra in a 28E and the cup is a bit big)

Try this. Boob shape is important. I had no idea!

Strongbeatsskinny · 13/06/2020 22:58

Bravissimo satine comes in a 28dd I used to wear that size from there you said you’ve tried 28e so try the dd

AnotherEmma · 13/06/2020 23:04

Boux Avenue?
Otherwise John Lewis, aren't they reopening soon?

TooMinty · 13/06/2020 23:23

Boux Avenue. I have some 30C from Calvin Klein too. And now have given up on bras and just wear bralets...

Ginandbearit1 · 13/06/2020 23:26

Try John Lewis or a decent department store, I ask the fitter to give me ones that will suit me.

ItsmineAllmine · 13/06/2020 23:51

I've been doing some lockdown bra purchasing as my new exercise regime (couch to 5k) has meant my boobs have shrunk to saggy sacks so none of my pre lockdown bras fit me anymore.

I've used Bra Stop and Belle Lingerie, both stock lots of different brands in different sizes and often have offers on. I'm 30e and plenty of options so you should be fine with them too.

M&S

The John Lewis site allows you to filter on size, style and colour so it should not be too daunting when you use the filters. By the time I’ve selected my style, padding, filtered in the underwire and filtered out “boring”colours like white, naturals, grey, cream etc, l’m left with quite a manegable number. You can then sort by price too.

Using the filters, l recently bought a blue bra and l was left with just 4 to choise from.

I hear you! I was a 30G or sometimes H pre-dc, but bf 2 dc and then 18 months of weight loss later and I am now a 28/30 e/f. So fortunately for me I still fit bravissimo ranges, but the style and shape of bra I need is totally different. The moulded t-shirt bras work best for me now.

Sorry, that doesn't help with your where to get them question.

grey12 · 14/06/2020 06:22

In a different country... but my mum (she's had surgeries and stuff....) has a Triumph bra with silicone "underwire" support. You could try to find something like that.

Girlintheframe · 14/06/2020 06:27

I'm a 30DD and just got some bras from Simply Be. Figleaves also do quite a good range.

Branleuse · 14/06/2020 18:39

i find a 30 in m&s is more like a 28, so maybe try there

Glendora · 15/06/2020 15:36

Thanks for all the suggestions folks! I've ordered a bunch from Bravissimo in smaller sizes and also JL.

@TooMinty yes - I'm getting to that point too. But I find that most bralettes give zero support, and my boobs have pretty much given up the fight with gravity, so need a bit of something to perk them up.

@ThatLockdownLyfe thanks so much for that link. That calculator puts me at a 30D, which sounds much more likely. And yes - shape makes such a huge difference. Makes ordering online so tricky...

I’m in a similar position and, having lost so much fullness from the tops of my boobs, plunge shapes worked really well. They were described as ‘classically tear shaped’ by a fitter before kids so you can imagine what they’re like now! I take a 30DD

poorbuthappy · 15/06/2020 19:28

Brastop is fab

TooMinty · 15/06/2020 22:20

I have a couple of these Calvin Klein bralettes. They have a little padding so feel a bit more supportive than most
