can someone recommend a fab moisturiser please?

I love the evian one plus cleanser and toner but cant get it anymore

i have tried loads of samples of expensive ones including creme de la mer (very over rated imo) and cant find a good one yet. My skin is really dry so i need a fab one pleaseeeeeee.

Hi after many years of searching I now use these oils, the serum with cactus is just superb. My skin has never looked better!

JackieNo · 23/09/2007 22:36

Have you tried Liz Earle stuff? The moisturisers are lovely, and there's one for dry skin, or a new one just out for 'mature or very dry' skin (haven't tried the new one though).

granarybeck · 23/09/2007 22:46

Would second liz earle, clarins i find good too. If skin is dry, the no7 Night Cream is very good, are different ones for different ages

puffling · 23/09/2007 22:46

aqueous cream

Easywriter · 23/09/2007 22:57

What is it that you want from your moisturiser?

Sun protection?
Anti-ageing?
or simply just moisture?

lou33 · 23/09/2007 22:58

best one for my v dry skin is good old nivea

WideWebWitch · 23/09/2007 22:59

Mine is v cheap Astral but Joanna Lumley uses it too. You could try it and chuck it if you didn't like it, it's so cheap!

lou33 · 23/09/2007 23:01

lol i remember that advert

WideWebWitch · 23/09/2007 23:03

look, she says she used it for 25 years and then did the ad, no idea if it's true though

lou33 · 23/09/2007 23:23

lol, i always seem to end up reverting to nivea

Lauriefairycake · 23/09/2007 23:41

The Liz earle one wouldn't be 'strong' enough for you - she'd bringing out a super moisturising skin for slightly more mature skin - not sure when but this year definitely (heard it on QVC)

Lolcats · 24/09/2007 00:11

Clarins Eclat du jour...

LittleMinx · 24/09/2007 00:26

thanks everyone.......... i got a lot to try there

LittleMinx · 24/09/2007 00:29

Lauriefairycake.........i aint that mature yet

LittleMinx · 24/09/2007 00:31

Thank you wickedwaterwitch and lou33...... i will give nivea and astral a whirl first as they are the cheapest

Lauriefairycake · 24/09/2007 00:35

yeah, but meant with dry skin usually the more 'mature'/moisturising formulations are thicker

NOT saying that you're an old bird

lou33 · 24/09/2007 09:05

i'm an old bird, the nivea is really thick and it pisses on anything else i have tried

missbumpy · 24/09/2007 09:25

Don't think anyone's mentioned Dr Hauschka Rose Cream. Best face cream out there IMO and I get very dry skin too. They've just brought out a 'light' version in case you find the normal one too greasy.

EmilyDavidson · 24/09/2007 09:52

50ml pot of astral is 49p in superdrug at the moment. Bargin!

LittleMinx · 24/09/2007 13:11

lauriefairycake.........well i am old compared to most of the people i work with

Emilydavidson......... i will be visiting superdrug when back at work on weds....thanks

Have a look for this range, Nourifusion, their new skin activator range is fab, last's ages and feels lovely.

CountessDracula · 24/09/2007 13:21

You know i have dry skin and have tried all sort of expensive moisturisers and I always come back to...

Vaseline Intensive Care dermacare lotion!

(about £2.50)

CountessDracula · 24/09/2007 13:23

second one down

chocbutton · 24/09/2007 20:00

I'd recommend Liz Earle too - she does a lovely face oil (superskin concentrate) which is really moisturising - this is what the new 'luxury' moisturiser has in it I think, so its dearer than the usual ones, but I have used her stuff for two years now, and I used to be a right beauty product tart, practically changing products every month when I got seduced by lovely packaging etc. However, not used anything else since trying LE - give it a go!

LittleMinx · 24/09/2007 23:02

thanks everyone, i got a lot to try there....... i will report back when i try them
