Tops/t-shirts that stop big boobs controlling the sillouette

I am breastfeeding and currently a size 8 but a 30G bra. I would really like some t-shirts or vests that fit my bust but then go in so that I don't look really chunky. I realise this is totally vain, but I have worked really hard to lose the baby weight, and the boobs are ruining my silhouette!

Have you tried Bravissimo’s clothing ? That’s available in different fittings rather than standard sizes.

LynnThese4reSEXPEOPLE · 07/06/2020 06:45

@Tootles2 no I was wondering about their t-shirts!

I’m similar proportions, although mostly I prefer something that doesn’t hug the figure too much in order not to look top heavy. When you have large boobs you naturally already have shape.

It’s tricky to work out what tops have enough room for the boobs but then don’t hang like a sack but I find a slinkier material like viscose or jersey (as opposed to 100% cotton which can be stiff and unforgiving) and then trying the smallest size, so XS if you aren’t doing that already.

Tops I have bought recently and think hang nicely:

@Tableniner - thank you that's really helpful!

I have this problem too and I wear a lot of oversized mens tshirts and then do the old trick of tieing a knot at the waist.

Dilbertian · 07/06/2020 12:19

I tend to wear a close-fitting vest or T-shirt with a looser open-fronted garment on top eg a cardigan. If one is patterned the other is plain, and they are never both the same colour. This allows me to have a curvaceous silhouette without the curvaceousness taking over.

I agree that

flabbyflabbyflabguts · 07/06/2020 12:19

I'm similar size, and wear sports bras to hold my boobs in. Probably not what you were asking, but it works for me

Dilbertian · 07/06/2020 12:24

Oops

I agree that pure cotton Ts often lack the slinky needed to accommodate curves. Viscose and modal, either pure or cotton-mix, work better.

Neckline is important, too. Deep Vs and high crew-necks do not flatter a bountiful bust. Small Vs, deep crews, scoops, shawl collar, open-necked shirt collar and the style that goes across from shoulder to shoulder (Bardot?) necklines are much nicer.

Dilbertian · 07/06/2020 12:27

Or if you look at woven tops rather than t-shirt fabric, bias-cut (where the weave is diagonal to your body rather than across) hangs very flatteringly . But they aren't common, probably because bias-cutting wastes more fabric than conventional cutting, making it more expensive to manufacture.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 07/06/2020 12:31

I have the same problem - size 8-10 with J cup boobs. I would love to be gamine!! Sad

I'm liking boat neck tops at the moment.

achillesratty · 07/06/2020 13:41

I am a H cup and have Bravissimo tshirts and they are great, the fit is much better than standard tshirts so they are much more flattering.

Word of warning though, my OH was spent 20 mins trying to iron one flat because he couldn't understand why the front had two areas of extra fabric that was sticking up Grin.

Thesheerrelief · 07/06/2020 14:20

Following this! I'm a 32G/H and everything seems to hang from my boobs. I'm also short so if I want to wear a top and skirt I look like a barrel - no shape at all in the middle

LynnThese4reSEXPEOPLE · 07/06/2020 17:50

@flabbyflabbyflabguts my sports bras are great but unfortunately not quick release enough for my hungry baby!
@achillesratty I'm really impressed your OH does ironing - I hate it with a passion!

I found a factory seconds seller on ebay and I'm trying 2 white bravissimo shirts so we will see! Thanks all so far!

Maybe 50s style? Hell bunny do tshirts that are quite nipped in, but they are generally quite low cut

RIBlue · 08/06/2020 13:55

I just bought a Breton long sleeved T-shirt from the Bravissimo eBay shop. It’s great, goes in and out and has the stripes cut differently across the chest so it’s looks normal on but you don’t end up with one distorted and stretched stripe across the front!

Tatapie · 08/06/2020 22:10

Linen tees drape well to go in. Under the bust, I got a couple from Sainsbury's
